Agree - that allows us to believe that he's a more considered decision than circumstance and history would suggest. I hope he get's a good incentive to keep us up, but also is buying into (and will contribute towards) a culture and a philosophy meaning he will stick around to try to get us straight back up if that's what is needed.
As much as I think it is mad to hire someone who has just failed in an almost identical situation - having an identity again is one clear positive about this. It has been a long time since we had a clear philosophy and belief about how to play the game. Obviously Jones had nothing and Ralph lost his way and belief in his system long ago. Which is a real shame, as Ralphs identity and clear way of playing was not only amazing to watch but it was extremely successful too. It sounds as though Marsch's identity and philosophy are aligned with Ralph in his early days. Let's hope the performances match as I think that version of Ralph would keep us up.
Let's face it, Jones was an unmitigated disaster. ANYONE who comes in will be welcome as there is no way on earth that they can do worse than him. That said, I actually think that JM will be a good fit for us - he may not keep us up, but he at least has experience (with lets face it a 'bigger' club with bigger expectations), and may just suit us. In Jesse we trust. To quote his sister Jessie J (I made that bit up), it isn't about the Price Tag, he could come Bang Bang into the room and be a Masterpiece.
Here’s betting we won’t be playing “American Idiot” through the PA system at half-time, anytime soon again!! Hopefully he took it in good jest!
Some people are concerned about him being sacked ,find a manager that hasn’t plus Leeds sacked clough after 44 days ,arguably the best manager ever,if faces don’t fit it doesn’t work and past history ti a point is irrelevant plus we are hardly a top draw club at present
Very odd to have someone at less than evens when someone else is 1/20. I can only see Betfair offering odds at the moment.
I feel positive about Marsch coming in and will keep the positivity going regardless of results on ONE condition. That he doesn’t start Bednarek!
Wonder whether Onuachu will fit with Marsch’s style? Hopefully we haven’t spent about £20m on him purely because he’s the type of player Jones wanted.
I didn’t feel he pressed all that well against Wolves but he may be able to work on it. There is a load of talent in our team if it can be harnessed. What the team lacks is erm being a team…
He's a good finisher with head and feet and we were lacking one of those, whether he does it in the PL we will have to wait and see.
Playing our best players in their correct positions would be a start with none of that 3 CBs nonsense.
At least if he flops here under a system that doesnt suit we will easily get some money for him due to his great record prior to us. The Carrillo deal just looks worse and worse as time goes by.
A particularly sweet afternoon as, purely to wind up my whining mate, I backed us at HT to win. I want to say £2 at 125/1 but I'm not certain. Vin
