The last time I can remember Rangers getting a sustained level of criticism from the Scottish press was when PLG was manager and they were really in the doldrums.

How could that have been "allowed" to happen in a Rangers controlled media? The simple fact is that Rangers have been successful over the last few years and Celtic haven't. Rangers have also had a man at the helm who is very experienced at handling the media and commanded respect through his many achievements in the game over the years. Was Tony Mowbray NOT useless? Was Gordon Strachan NOT sarcastic? Is Neil Lennon NOT an angry man? Did Celtic NOT go to war with the SFA? How are the media supposed to ignore these things? Celtic have made it easy for journos to attack them over the last few years, the stories have practically written themselves. Are you seriously suggesting Celtic didnt get positive headlines when they were successful and everything was going well? Post up some links to those articles! Tell me what the media have covered up or ignored when it come to stories about Rangers. The tax case has been reported on, the abject failures in the transfer market have been reported, questions about Whyte's finances have been asked, the poor signings such as Edu have been slated, Manchester was in the papers for weeks, the fans singing certain songs and being banned has been reported (while other fans of other clubs have been more or less let off the hook I might add), the long drawn out sale of the club was reported on at length and outright lies were printed about Whyte's plans for season ticket sales........have I missed anything? We know you all know about these stories because you're online slagging us about them EVERY DAY! Do I really need to post links to the articles to prove it? Also, I'm still waiting for you to tell me WHY newspapers have this conspiracy going on and what they have to gain from it. Come to think of it, aren't you Celtic fans always telling us how YOU have the bigger club and YOU have the most fans? If any favouritism was to happen wouldn't it make sense to side with the so called "biggest" club in Scotland? Posting articles or saying "Mr Phil says so" is not a convincing argument. It is not evidence as there are articles and opinions to the contrary. This could go on forever, people on the internet never admit they are wrong so that's my final word on it. If believing there is a media conspiracy against your club makes you all feel like the poor wee underdog and gives your life some purpose or cause to fight for then you're welcome to it.
WTF are these thick bigoted ****s whining about now? The Press are against them. The refs are agains them. The Sfa are against them. Well, just **** off then. Some hacks support Celtic, some support Rangers. The only sectarian and bigoted organisation on Scotland is Glasgow City Council. And perhaps the Glasgow Labour party.
it isn't Mr Phils voice on the radio programme it isn't Mr Phil speaking when Traynor and Young called each other rangers puppets it isn't Mr Phil writing for the Australian press the one reporter brave enough to out sectarian songs from rangers fans in the press gets hounded by his peers Mr Phil broke the stories about rtc which media still tried to ignore Yeah Scotland is full of Celtic fans....why so much bigotry then? <supermassivedoh>
Mate, I wasn't taking any sides in this argument. I was merely pointing out a fact. But for the point above I would ask you to cast your mind back to summer 2004 when O'Neill was manager of Celtic, everything was rosy and we went on a pre-season tour of America. We lost a few friendly games and the Daily Record chose to print Celtic-In-Crisis headlines along with a picture of a broken Celtic crest. Totally ridiculous but how do you expect Celtic fans to have a positive opinion of Scottish newspapers when they come out with ****e like that?
So ****! Who cares? These ****ty papers print ****e to cause controversy and prop us their falling sales. Only inbred, thick and mutated ****s take things they print so seriously. It's a ****ing newspaper, no **** cares, don't give them the courtesy of thinking that they are important, they are not. <SADPARANOIDBASTARDS>
"Also, I'm still waiting for you to tell me WHY newspapers have this conspiracy going on and what they have to gain from it. Come to think of it, aren't you Celtic fans always telling us how YOU have the bigger club and YOU have the most fans? If any favouritism was to happen wouldn't it make sense to side with the so called "biggest" club in Scotland?" Still no answer to this then MTS? It's clear to me now how you can believe in such a conspiracy. You simply ignore facts and opinions that dont suit your blinkered viewpoint. You've ignored pretty much ALL of my last post apart from one mention of "Mr Phil". Did me ridiculing your hero upset you a tad? 1. One man's opinion on the radio during a show DESIGNED to provoke and encourage response via premium rate phone call constitutes proof of a conspiracy in your eyes? 2. Traynor and Young have NEVER slagged off Rangers then? On the radio or in the papers? 3. Lennon accused Rangers of being "obsessed" by Celtic. He didn't exactly "shrug it off". It was a dig and the Scottish media pounced on it. He's just not media savvy enough yet, something I'm sure he'd admit. 4. You have evidence of this "hounding" then? How are these journos still in a job? 5. IT HASN'T BEEN IGNORED! IT'S BEEN IN THE PAPERS FOR MONTHS FFS! 6. So Scotland doesn't have enough Celtic fans is that it? I thought you were the biggest club in Glasgow? There are my responses to your points one by one.......with appropriate emoticons for each so you can understand me. Perhaps you'd like to do the same with my earlier posts one day instead of just ignoring the difficult questions?
I care. There's an article on the Rangers board this morning about a BNP supporting Celtic fan and you, in particular, are having a ****ing field day with it. Would this be in the paper if it was a Rangers fan? Would it ****. "Manchester was in the paper for weeks" For the love of ****, Rangers apologists were pointing the finger EVERYWHERE except at the rancid lot that went on the rampage - an English mate of mine read a Daily Record in the follow-up to that and was ****ing outraged at English fans being blamed without any substance whatsoever to cover up for you ****ing animals. In the nineties, the Sun openly admitted to omitting a story about Rangers fans burning a Celtic ball boy's tracksuit and, instead, admitted that they MADE UP a story about the police entering the Rangers support to get a flag rather than to arrest the perpitrators. The only reason the press gave it to Rangers tight during PLG's reign was that they wanted him out. Compare the decision for Rangers to not have a minutes silence for John Paul II with their reaction to the minutes silence at Parkhead for the Queen Mother and Leckie's "coughgate". As for the Herald (which is ironically the most balanced of them all), have a look at their employment policy prior to the equal employment act in 1974. All the **** above would have your lots' knickers in twist upon twist upon twist and Follow Follow would have repeat articles every day about it. As for Glasgow City Council and the Labour Party Glasgow City Council allow more Orange Walks than Belfast and the Labour Party was started by a Glasgow Protestant and has never had an RC leader - indeed Tony Blair wanted to convert while he was in office but couldn't because of the political pressure that would be put on him from our fascist cousins across the sea. Everyone's out to get you, eh, Edge? But Timmy is paranoid. **** the lot of yeez. Love, Carol Kirkwood's grumpy as **** Tits xx
Yes I remember that and it was bang out of order! I'm not saying the Scottish press ARE NOT utter ****ers, they clearly are, what I am saying is that they are utter ****ers to EVERY club INCLUDING Rangers. There is no conspiracy or blatant favouritism like MTS and his hero Mr Phil claim and I'm sick of hearing **** like that. Some Rangers fans call the Daily Record "The Daily Rebel" and some Celtic fans call it "The Daily Ranger". How can this be? The answer is that both sets of fans are only seeing what they want to see and ignoring the rest. MTS is a classic example of this behaviour. I've lost count of the amount of headlines I've read containing something like "SMITH RAGES AT....." or "LENNON RAGES AT....." then on reading the actual content of the article there is absolutely no evidence of "rage" whatsoever. They do this to grab attention and sell papers and they do it to BOTH sets of fans to ensure maximum profit. Simple logic.
Shawlands your happy enough to ignore my questions...but ill give yours a try Why would journalists in Scotland pick celtic over. rangers? 1. If they are a fan of rangers 2. If they hate celtic football club 3. If they associate Celtic with catholicism and are themselves bigoted 4. If the associate Celtic with Ireland and are racist 5. As there was no consequences for doing so As I said I'm willing to look at any proof of negative stories published about rangers But if its printed weeks after the BBC reported it....it can't count
Edge - I can't comment on the actual contents of Scottish newspapers but do you not think you may be underestimating their influence on the public at large? I agree with you that newspapers in general will print sensationalist stories on any topic to gain sales and that more discerning members of the public take what they say with a 'pinch of salt'. However, unfortunately it would appear that the so-called 'masses' can be influenced quite easily by what they read in these newspapers. Why do you think, for example, politicians are running scared of newspapers and go out of their way to court favour with them - take the whole 'Murdoch newspapers' affair - English politicians were terrified to offend him and his empire for years and only now appear to be coming out of their shells about him and his underhand dealings since the phone hacking scandal broke!
Silly Bhoy Am I? By pointing out that Celtic fans are as racist in % as society in general? That's a field day alright. You racist ****. There is no hope for you. Stop having a field day with that. There were a lot of English people who were arrested and jailed though. The fans didn't just riot for the sake of it, there were mitigating factors that fuelled the flames, heaven forbid that the Press should actually investigate and speculate. Oh FFS mate, never heard of this one, post the link to it then. But check out Rebels republican fanzine and you'll see that Phil ManGobblegiver openly flaunts his contacts at the Scottish Sun, SURELY someone who is so anti-Rangers and anti-Scottish/British would not get a look in at the Rangers minded press? No it was because Rangers were 18 points behind Celtic, he dropped our Captain and we were playing ****e, since Le Guen left, we've had a period of dominance donestically which, a few drubbings in Europe, which were SENSATIONALISED in the gutter press and as such, don't merit such negative press as Celtic who despite being in a stronger financial position than Rangers, have lost 3 titles on the trot. Why would Rangers hold a minutes silene for the Pope? Seriously, are you wired to the moon? Have a look at it? Where is it and I'll have a look. Link? Wrong No Blair said he didn't want to convert while in office, I watched the ****ing interview with him. Their is a sizeable amount of you who are paranoid, and it's really scary that grown men believe in such ****e. Anyway, I'm off, this place is corrupt and ****e.
I don't buy papers because I got sick of their lies and bullshit. I'd urge everyone else to do the same, but seeing as their circulation drops year on year, I think people already are, maybe hence why Milliband had the balls to come out and openly criticise the Murdoch Empire.
I'm up to my eyeballs in work this morning so I'm gonna keep it short and sweet. The ballboy incident was in the two games (renamed St Patrick's Day massacre and Palm Sunday Annihalation). In the second game, Celtic's ballboys for the first and only time at that period did not wear Celtic tracksuits because of what happened at the previous week's game - they wore white jumpers with Peoples on it and deliberately had no Celtic logos or insignias on them (a steward told me before the game was played that this would happen). Blair didn't want to convert and then magically did as soon as he left office, eh? http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/news/...-to-become-a-catholic-after-he-quits-no-10.do "Mr Blair has not been seen in a church of his professed Anglican faith except on official occasions. He is widely considered to have remained an Anglican because of the potential complexities of conversion while in office. Some lawyers believe the 1829 Emancipation Act, which gave Roman Catholics full civil rights, may still prevent a Catholic from becoming Prime Minister. Clauses in the Act state that no Catholic adviser to the monarch can hold civil or military office. Despite his apparent commitment to the faith, Mr Blair has also frequently clashed with Roman Catholic leaders, particularly over his liberal policies on gay rights and abortion." Keir Hardie was a Glaswegian and a preacher at the Evangelical Union Church and the main founder of the Labour Party - the party's growth was rooted in the local Presbyterys and Hardie was one of the first evangelical preachers to suggest that Jesus was the prototype Socialist. Of course, I could just say "no, it wasn't".
That's not a link, that's you saying something, just like that time I caught Phil ManGobblegiver and Graham Speirs in a gay embrace, I tried to join in and they told me to **** off because I was of Protestant backround and Hugh Keeving told me it was going to happen. So, again someone "widely believes" rather than an interview he did for the BBC shortly after becoming an RC, where HE states that he never had time to convert while in office and had more important things to do while in office? He wasn't Glaswegian, but apologies on his faith, I always thought he was an RC, not that I give a **** if he was or was not, only bigots care about stupid **** like that.
