Who said they do it openly? What they have gained in the past was direct contact with Moonbeams...who could turn that down Top man in mirror group/daily record is a rangers fan....expect some bias there Doesn't picking sides in politics alienate readers more....I would think so
It's an ongoing case! What would you like the press to report "RANGERS COULD LOSE £50m!" on a daily basis? Would that be enough? It's simply not newsworthy. It's already been said several times in the press and there is nothing new to report. When there is we'll all hear about it, you can bet on that. Or are you suggesting the media is trying to cover up the issue? Not doing a very good job are they considering every man and his dug knows about it? It's there, it exists, it's a serious issue we KNOW. Feel free to gloat and snigger among your pals about it all you like but PLEASE stop banging on about it not being reported enough due to some non-existent Scottish media conspiracy! If not for my sanity for your own.
1. Aren't you and others like you suggesting it is obvious? If so how can they NOT be doing it openly? Or are you and your likeminded friends super intelligent people who have an ability to read between the lines and spot these things where us mere mortals cannot? 2. The owner is a Rangers fan is he? Oh well case closed then! He's going to cut his own throat financially by being biased towards Rangers and thus alienating thousands of potential customers? Do you think he got rich enough to own a paper by being that stupid? 3. Access to "Moonbeams"? He was slated by the Rangers fans for NOT appearing in the media enough so how has that arrangement helped exactly? 4. Everyone KNOWS which paper supports which political party because they openly admit it and politically minded people can then choose what paper they wish to buy. The power that a paper has over public opinion when it comes to voting is a highly sought after and therefore lucrative commodity. How does supporting one football club over another equate to that? Are Rangers paying them off? What with? If a paper OPENLY supported a football club what would they have to gain from it? If it is NOT OPEN and some sort of hidden conspiracy how can the Rangers supporting owner of these papers possibly benefit from it? Dont you see that what you are suggesting makes no sense?
Quoting the myopic views of that man wont give your argument any more credence with me MTS. Frankly he comes across as a rather paranoid man with an axe to grind and a chip on both shoulders. Perhaps you should step away from the ramblings of such men and form your own opinion.
People had no options before the internet It was the sun or the record, they were the only places to get news about celtic, made up or otherwise....so picking one team over another would have no effect on readership....it was famine or feast. Moonbeams had every journalist in his pocket....have you heard the traynor young fallout on radio Scotland.....calling each other Murrys puppets.....excellent stuff....or were jim and chic just being paranoid? Even this summer, when rangers fans pulled a plane stunt, lennon wasn't bothered by it.....yet Scottish papers had him raving....whilst Aussie ones had him shrugging it off You ask a valid question though....how does being biased help their profession.....I ask you, when was the last time you could call them professional? Newspaper readership is falling drastically, not because of celtic, bit due to the net Papers are now having to turn on rangers....but slowley....if they don't theyll get left far behind
So you ignore the issue Media man thinks story about rangers should have been hidden Even when it is staring you in the face
'Lennon rages over gers stunt' sounds better as a headline that 'Lennon says little over gers stunt' What one would people want to read?
The papers are piss poor I agree but they're piss poor towards EVERYONE. For every article a Celtic fan rages about you'll find a similar article that a Rangers fan has raged at. They sensationalise, they mis-quote, they print outrageous headlines which have no bearing on the content of the article and they sneer and snipe at people from their ivory tower and they do all this for one reason........IT SELLS PAPERS. Your one-eyed view fails to take into account that it happens to BOTH clubs, not just Celtic. To side with one club over another would be a disaster financially for a newspaper. Not one person, yourself included, has been able to give me ONE good reason why the media would side with Rangers and not Celtic OR what they could ever hope to gain from such an allegiance. You cant because no such reason exists. It, like most conspiracy theories, is illogical.
I am worried about Rangers and this wee tax problem. I hope Rangers can resolve this difficulty very soon, and I have no doubt they will. Sure a few million is chicken feed to a lifelong Rangers supporter from Motherwell. If he doesn't want to pay it I am sure SDM will throw a few million over to h m men. It just doesn't bear thinking about if Rangers suffer anything more than financially as a result of these nasty tax men. It is difficult enough for a Celtic fan to remain safe in the West of Scotland or the North of Ireland when Celtic beat Rangers in a game or when Celtic win the league. God help us what will happen if Rangers were deducted points.
I'm worried about Superhoops and his 'wee man' syndrome. I hope superhoops can resolve his problem very soon but i have my doubts if he can. Sure the ramblings of a mad celtic supporter is chickenfeed for all other posters on here but if he doesn't want to talk sense at any point then that is his perogative. It just doesn't bear thinking about if Superhoops suffers anything more mentally as a result of these nasty school bullies. It is difficult enough for dugs to remain safe in Superhoops' house following a Rangers victory, God help them if he finally snaps.
I have told you why it would not, in the past, have affected readership....there was no alternative.....still is no alternative for computer illiterate. This has been banked on. Now we agree that the media lie I am open minded Show me lies the media have printed about rangers "This player is going nowhere" but subsequently does, can't be counted Negative stories that are not true Please help me to understand
Team x reject Celtic bid Rangers reject team y's valuation. Same story, different spin. It is comical to see it.
Without proof I am disinclined to believe this. If you don't like what the rags say, buy a better paper. The Times, Herald etc are better quality and do not deal with pointless specualtion. Can't beat the Sunday Times and the Herald.
For anyone to claim that Celtic and Rangers receive equal criticism in the press/media is a bit of a joke to be perfectly frank. Compare and contrast the kid gloves with which Sir Walter was handled (and McCoist too so far) with daily reports and pictures of "Raging" Neil Lennon, "Useless" Tony Mowbray and "Sarky wee bastard" Strachan. Every word they uttered was analysed to death. Last season the papers and media never tired of telling us about Celtic's war with the SFA and how anyone connected with Celtic was openly questioning Ref's motives. Aiden McGeady was criticised on a regular basis as a "Diver", has Steven Naismith been called a cheat recently? After his catalogue of diving he certainly should be but no, he's the new Golden Boy of Scottish Football apparently. Rangers have gotten an easier ride in recent years so it will be interesting to see how they report things if Ally's team fizzle out and fail.
I generally don't read the papers any more. I get my celtic fix from the web. The papers do have to devote time to the Huns and ourselves and they have to put a negative story about us every time there is one about them. For that reason, it is a strange kind of balance......in that it isn't at all.
