I'm as liberal as the next guy, but Fran's right, assuming the word "monkey" always carries racist overtones is just nonsensical, and this story rather smacks of an agenda.

There is a tacit assumption (or should that be keen anticipation?) in the likes of The Mirror, that the term monkey MUST be as a result of his 1/2 Jamaican heritage. (Surely, THAT'S racist). The majority of monkey-related descriptions I have heard recently have been aimed at Gareth Bale.

Well, he appeared (into my consciousness at least) in December 2011 regarding the Suarez/Evra affair, so even if you're right, he has another two years left in him!

He did promptly disappear a couple of days later when no one was interested in the (divisive) campaign he was trying to start and told him to bore off.

Fortunately it's Saturday tomorrow so there's finally some actual football to talk about.

It's political correctness gone mad!

Isn't that misogynist?

Political correctness gone mad!

Make your mind up matey.

Either I am dismissive of prejudice or I am over sensitive to.

Personally I think I hold a well balanced view.

I never said you were dismissive of it, I said that you undermined its severity. I didn't say you did that on purpose.

Seems like you're particularly sensitive where it concerns you though (even imagining discrimination to deflect criticism), so I'm not sure you could really call that balanced.

A guy on sky says that it was a player that was a whistle blower but won't name him. There is a need to sort disloyalty out methinks.
