Pandas offend everyone - black, white & Asian Geese hiss - obviously anti-Semitic Frogs - derogatory term for the French Raccoons - pretty obvious really Not to mention all the sexist animals too - birds, beavers, foxes, cougars, cows It's a minefield
The usual suspects seizing their chance to make headlines. What's worse is '' news '' online is now going down the pay and display route. Meaning journos and editors are under more pressure to create headlines and entice viewers. Not to mention money made from adverts. One plus is the Yid chanting has lost its place in the news importance stake. Ironically to another pathetic '' race issue ''.
*****ose - discriminates against the mentally handicapped Great White Shark - white supremacy Weedy Sea Dragon - implies effeminacy Cuckoo - implies they support Arsenal Chub - discriminates against the obese Sheep - discriminates against UKIP voters Passenger Pigeon - discriminates against Clint Dempsey Pig - implies they arrest one person for chanting "Yid" yet ignore the hundreds chanting anti-Semitic chants right in front of them
Apparently, there is going to be a massive story breaking in the news over the next few days about the player who leaked the story. I understand that it's someone currently outside the England camp who feels that his place is under threat. The word is that the said player is going to be vilified both by his (former) England colleagues and by his club colleagues. Sources won't yet reveal the name of the player, but it's being solidly claimed that his name will come out.
If smalling took offence then using social media he would probably have said something to one of his mates. Be that a player at Utd or one of his' 'crew' '.
I liked the monkey joke on the other 606... Two monkey's in the bath. One says "ooo-aaa-aaa-eee-ahh". "Well put some cold in" says the other. ----- Did I get away with that one? Before anyone gets on their high horse, it's not like I called anyone a Yiddo.
I doubt Cole was even in the dressing room and if he was I doubt he was offended, he must've heard much worse in all that time he's spent working with Terry.
1) I don't believe Roy is racist. 2) PC has gone mad. 3) It shouldn't of been leaked to the press 4) Was still the wrong thing to say as it could offend someone and clearly did 5) I don't like the way that the person offended is being made out to be the bad guy however.
Townsend's clearly sick of being asked about it already: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24580575?
Its a ridiculous world where you can't seem to say the word monkey in the presence of a black/mixed race person without it having racist connotations, and where you'd probably end up in a tabloids if you ate a banana at a football game.
If I were a black man, I'd be afraid of eating a banana, for fear of being accused by the white press of parodying my own kin. That's how bad it has become.
There is a fine line where you have to take actions against racism but not go over the top. It's not easy for the authorities to get it right as whatever they do or don't do seems to upset someone somewhere.
Next summer will be fun, given the amount of different terms Brazilians have for mixed race people. There's probably going to be an issue if somebody mishears when being referred to as a pardo, for one...
But if racists had never made monkey noises about black players it wouldn't have happened. It is very important to show additional solidarity with the offended parties here, even if that leads to a little ridiculousness.
Well of course we should show solidarity when the phrases are used to cause offence, but it just seems to have got to the stage now where if something COULD be taken as a racist slur then it invariably is regardless of intent. Phrases and words have more than one meaning, just because Hodgson makes a monkey joke with black/mixed race players present doesn't make him a racist. Would you refrain from referring to a cigarette as a *** if you were around people you knew were gay? Of course you wouldn't. Now the circumstances here are of course a bit different because none of us were there but surely the fact that multiple players, including Townsend as a mixed race player, have come out and said 'no offence was intended, none was taken' has to account for something. I'm not trying to trivialise such discrimination but this smacks to me of someone with their nose already put out of joint just making trouble, even though of course just because Townsend didn't mind doesn't mean that Welbeck or Sturridge or whoever might not too. Of course they should be offended if Hodgson was being racist but from what I've read it doesn't seem to at all have been a usage of the word in that way. Its just in this situation I'm afraid to say that I personally doubt that the person involved has actually taken offence to the comment, I believe that this is just someone pissed off and stirring up trouble. That might be a controversial view, as who am I to say who is offended by what, but I seriously doubt that Roy Hodgson is a racist. Perhaps in the current climate and given his position Hodgson should have chosen his words more carefully but you have to question how we have got into this mess.
Fab, surely, based on his performances. please log in to view this image Peter Herbert would probably suggest Twister
You mean he's brown on the outermost layer but white beneath and beneath that he's red and beneath that, in the very core of his being, he is wooden with a joke written all the way down? I find that very offensive.
