If I need to spell it out: why put his body and his livelihood at risk playing for a team with which he has such a tenuous link. Whose fault is that?
The bloke that tackled him I guess. He must have some sort of link if he's playing for the country. Lee Camp is playing for Northern Ireland for example. Hundreds of players play for the country they weren't born in without getting injured- twas just bad luck.
It just really annoys me that we lost such an important player in what was a seemingly pointless game for him. And now, whilst I'm a great respecter of contracts, he's looking for more cash, having got injured and deprived us of his services. I find it so frustrating: on his old form he could have been a great player in the Premier League.
in what was a seemingly pointless game for him. I think playing international football for most players isn't considered pointless, more like an honour!!
Would you be saying that if he got injured playing for England? Rodney I have to say I find your statement most bizarre on this subject. You normally post such common sense yet here you're making no sense!
Vine was never the same after breaking a leg in a "meaningless" game in training - it happens. Playing international football is surely only going to help our players when you consider the players they'll be playing with and against?
It's the ''demands'' part of the headline which grates with most fans. A headline like that will always be associated with greed. If it was titled ''Rowlands enquires as to the situation with his promotion bonus that he is rightfully due'', not only would it be a crap headline, but people wouldn't care half as much. Damn journos.
I have it on good authority that this is complete rubbish and the paper concerned is about to print an apology.
Nothing in this at all. Rowlands has a legally binding agreement for a raise on promotion during his contract. Takeover negotiations delayed various changes including this one. This will now be corrected. We will not be able to offload without paying a significant portion of his salary however.
I'd say that if that's what his contract says then it should clearly be honoured - its fair to say that doesn't deserve the increase based on performance but hopefully a lesson learned for those negotiating contracts in future
