The number and names that move on will depend in some part in who we add to the squad and the maturity and ready for duty assessment on the likes of Situ, Obeng, Donnelly (1 and 2), Cornell, and others currently in the Welsh U-21 squad. If they are ready to step up, older fringe players will be more likely to be released. I haven't mentioned Jazz because to my mind he is already ready, he's just caught in a numbers game. It's going to be a different summer from those past. Hopefully, we will have a top-10 standing in the Prem, that's going to attract players of a certain caliber, it's going to give us better negotiating power with respect to wages.
I think Scott Donnelly will be gone in the summer, Cornell too! He won't amount to anything! Having played with and against him (yes I'm a young-un I know!) I don't see him being anything more than a lower league keeper at best! Wouldn't mind him proving me wrong though! I don't see why Obeng can't come through like Taylor did! We need that extra cover at full backs! From what I've seen of Situ (only a few reserve games) he looks a similar player to ash, strong commanding cb who is very comfortable on the ball, which comes from his ability to play in midfield! I have high hopes for him!
I think all three of our wingers are pretty equal when on form (granted something that Sinclair doesn't seem to have found for a lot of the season imo) and bring different things to the game. As for who should start, i dont mind, im with Brendan on the wholethe finishing 11 being as important as the starting 11
PGF- I don't see Situ being ready to come in at all this season, not when we have such a solid defence with ash and Caulker in the middle, tate's fit again and provides cover across the back 5 and monk has done well when ever he has been called upon, so I see our defence staying as settled as possible. If our final game of the season was against a lower side then maybe a few of the youngsters could have sneaked on the bench with safety in the bag, but not against Liverpool! There's nothing worse than coming on already under the huge pressure of wanting to impress on you debut! And feeling out of your depth can set you back a long way and ruin confidence!
"He won't amount to anything". That's a rather mean, and unnecessary, comment to make about Cornell,Tycoch. I hope he "proves you wrong",as well.
"he won't amount to anything" may have been the wrong phrase to use, what I meant was I don't believe he will ever be the standard of keeper than we require and will end up plying his trade down the bottom of the football ladder, as do a lot of youngsters, just look at Kerry Morgan!
Tycoch, why so downbeat about Donnelly? He seemed a tidy prospect to me so do you have any recent info to the contrary? Buck said that he wasn't going to pressure the lad this season and allow him to find the fitness he will need at this level whilst learning to integrate with the squad and get up to speed with our style. Several clubs were interested in him including Everton and Liverpool, so he must have decent potential. I find it difficult to accept that he could have gone so far backwards in such a short space of time that we are thinking of moving him on. Can you enlarge on this?
I was indeed! Rory is a goo prospect, but Scott was brought in with the championship in mind, he's been unlucky with how we have flourished, I expect him to go the same way Ryan Harley did! Through no fault of his own!
OOPS!!!!!!!!!! Apologies, Tycoch, I'd completely forgotten about him. Shame he never got a chance with us because he was a goalscoring midfielder, which we needed. He might have gone on to better things with us but it was not to be. Good luck to him. Wsaf, as you pointed out, the post clearly refers to Scott. My head's in the shed again.
