Here's a good tip for those do not get these things free (I've no idea if there is free testing in the UK). Every time you change your mortgage or health insurance provider they make you take a medical - so not only do you get a more competitive rate on your insurance, but you also get a free test for AIDS and Hepatitis (RRP €180 last time I enquired). I'm full of financial advice today I am.
Oh and make sure you take the medical for the new insurance before you cancel your old policy, in case you do have the AIDS.
Doesn't cost anything in Scotland to go for STI checkups. Not in my experience anyway. I had to pay for my script with the gonorrhea, but that was before they got rid of paying for prescriptions here.
