I'm quite amazed that this has kicked up such a stink and it's gone on this long. Let's just say that he had overtaken under yellow, it really would be crappy to change the title winner retrospectively on a technicality anyway. I don't think it would have done the sport a whole lot of good.
Yeah. I agree there Bhaji. For once, I find myself pretty much agreeing with every word of Bernie Ecclestone's statement. I have a hunch – and I stress that this is all it is – that there was a certain amount of political motivation in this. And I don't mean Bernie. I think the whole (non)-incident may have been given extra impetus from a politically motivated aristocrat who sees himself as a potential leader of a country but is currently involved with the proudest, perhaps most passionate icon his country possesses.
Surprise surprise, Ferrari considers Vettel controversy over pass now closed The FIA responded on Friday morning to explain the situation, and Ferrari is now happy that the issue has been put to rest. In a statement issued on Friday it said: Ferrari made it clear that it had a duty to its fans to follow up the Vettel controversy after widespread distribution of the Vettel video. The FIA also issued a statement on Friday confirming that it told Ferrari that it was adamant the overtaking move was not in breach of the regulations.
I dont understand the negativity towards Ferrari here. They are not my favourite of teams personaly but some people talk like they commited murder. The fact of the matter is The FIA were the ones who messed up. The FIA are the ones who launched an Investigation. And it was the Fans (Including you and I) that made them react. Ferrari themselves had no choice than to Investigate the issue themselves and the only contact they had with the FIA was to clear up the rule between Flag, Light and dashboard. In fact this is a good thing that this has happened otherwise we would be more confused on a future occasion. Bernie Ecclestone himself though has obviously read from a news story that was 'spun' to make Ferrari look sketchy without knowing any of the facts himself. I dont believe he knows any 'Inside' info from the letter between Ferrari and the FIA as he wouldnt be involved. Anyway. END OF STORY...
It's their constant hypocrisy about others sportsmanship, yet they will do everything in their powers to win at any cost and **** sportsmanship in how they do it. That's what pisses us all off about Ferrari.
All Ferrari did was to ask for clarification, noting more, as far as I know they never asked the FIA to investigate the claims even. Some people will just not let go of their own hate and will jump on any news story about Ferrari. McLaren did the same in 2008 (and 1999) and I don't remember all this rubbish being said then?
In reality it didn't get to that point though. Now had we have had appeals and lawyers involved then the whole thing would have stunk. If anything the FIA should dealt with it much quicker to clear up the confusion among some fans.
I don't hate Ferrari, on the contrary they've gone up in my estimations this year. If there's one team I do hate it's the 4-car Red Bull Racing team. They have an outrageously unfair advantage and, like their top driver, they keep getting away with it.
When you look at the history of Ferrari/clarifications/lecturing on sportsmanship this is not a one-off
I did find Alonso's tweet about making his own miracles and winning with the correct rules, he obviously forgets Hockenheim and being faster than Massa. He certainly fits Ferrari well.
Good point! Actually, I don't like the way Red Bull operate but I think with Ferrari it may be a case of 'If anyone's going to play dirty, it should be us'!
Ouch, more aftermath backfiring. ---- Opinion: Losing It http://www.planetf1.com/editorial/8295279/Opinion-Losing-It ---- Very harsh article, you have been warned!
I like how the first comment in that article was: You should have written the article about Lewis Hamilton.
