I was feeling like that last year. I said "no more Aqualoani" then, but I think everybody just thought it was my bad spelling. Play him or get rid for good. As for Chubby Cole, I'd like to see him get a chance, but I agree he'll have to work hard.
please log in to view this image - Being serious, I do agree Saint. We've loaned him out to two Italian sides who haven't taken him for a fee which seems reasonable. (£5M was the fee being talked about for Milan to take him and about £7M for Juve to take him if I remember correctly) Please let this be the summer where it comes to an end.
I would welcome Joe Cole back but I don't want that handbag Aqualani back, him and his agent have shown nothing but disrespect to the club over the past couple of seasons.
This is what bothers me a little. Two clubs have declined to take him for what must be a bargain if he's anything like the player we're told he is. So what's wrong with him? He's supposedly happy in Italy, so why don't they want to stump up?
It's the beady close set eyes saint If we get someone younger and better than Cole then I have no qualms with selling him but at the same time if they believe he can still do a job for us even if it for a year, then that is fine by me too.
I thought those eyes were some advanced sighting technology to help him shoot into the net, rather than just in the general vicinity thereof like the rest of our team last season. As for replacing Joe- well, we've hardly seen him so we're not going to miss him anyway. If he comes in and plays well it'll be like a new signing.
That is a concern. It has to be the one of the most annoying transfers I can remember... Brought, barely played, loaned out to two Italian clubs for just about nothing and then we still have him on our books! His stats at Milan last season are decent. 6 assists in 23 games in Serie A. I think Milan have said they won't take up the option to try and negotiate a lower fee for him. Which would be a complete joke but we seem so keen to let him go, we could end up getting something like £3M for him! Or he could come back and play... Nobody knows.
I remember seeing the interview he gave on signing for Lille and he seemed bitterly dissappointed he hadn't had more success at Anfield (not bitter towards us tho). I wouldn't have a problem with him getting a go next season but equally I wouldn't be crying into my beer if he signed elsewhere as his wages are pretty mental
I think Cole is a decent enough player to have around, he would certainly fit into the passing style that Rodgers will want but the problem is will he be able to refind the form that made him such a star for Chelsea and England? At 30 years old, his clock is ticking and on £90k per week, can we (or do we want to) hang about and wait for him to click into gear...? I reckon I'd begrudgingly let him go and invest in a younger version. Isn't there a lad that was about to join Swansea on a free until Rodgers left...
And on Joe... http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/latest-news/cole-set-for-anfield-return Looks like he'll be given another chance to prove his worth. Personally, i'll be happy to let him try again. He struggled when he came in (To be fair, everyone did under Roy!) and the loan seems to have helped him. Again, decent enough stats for Lille last season. 9 goals and 5 goals in 42 games. On a side note, I did see a show on Sky Sports News a few weeks ago all about Joe. He spoke about his regret at not having been a success at Liverpool the first time around and if given the chance, he would like to come back and try and be a success.
Yeah, and something about not recognising or appreciating the pressure levels of playing for Liverpool too. He added that the knowledge he gained from the first year at the club would help him perform if he was to return next season. I hope he can do the business for us, just concerned about his £90k per week wages if he doesn't improve on last time.
I think he knows he might have a shot at the national team if he can jut get into the Liverpool side!!!
