Just watched the highlights. What on earth were King and Weimann doing at the back post for the Rotherham goal, just stood watching the guy stood 2-3 yards out knock it in… If Vyner had defended as badly as that some on here would slaughter him. Thankfully for us Rotherham’s defence was worse, a needless own goal to concede, and shocking for our second. They will feel their defender lost Pring for the third, but give some credit to a great ball from Scott and a class header from Pring.
I just watched the same highlights Supcon and wondered how the heck all that room was allowed at the back post. Statues can't defend and both King and Weimann were guilty of being asleep on the job. It was a timely win but nothing of note for me, apart from a few really good crosses. Stoke City will be a much sterner test and poor defending like that will not go unpunished.
Along with tightening up at the back, providing decent crosses is our way out of trouble in my view. We get into lots of positions to cross, Sykes in particular, but the cross is usually woeful. If we can improve on those two areas I believe we’ll be fine.
I have felt the same way as you Ashton but it was one thing I noticed against Rotherham was that our ratio of bad crosses seemed to be better than in most previous games. The end product needs to improve when we fully sort out our strategy on crosses and if that happens then I think we will start to cllmb the table. The back line looked comfortable and let's hope the stupid losses due to defensive errors has become a thing of the past, especially during the last 10-15 minutes.
