I agree, but some get blinded by the , he's one of our own, he is no where near what scout thinks he is. Stats mean **** if you have the heart of a pea, and no bottle, tries to be to pretty on the ball. It's no good in this league.
Maybe you should let Tony Mowbray know that he has no heart or bottle either, because he hasn't seemed to realise and could surely do with your wisdom.
We've played 33,got 13 to go and we're a comfortable 8th/9th in the table. There are going to be dips in form, particularly with such a young squad, and we might be about to go on a disappointing run. We've been desperately unlucky with injuries to key players. We can see TM is trying to manage these players to get the best out of them, but it isn't going to work all the time, and I think we have to be realistic about our expectation levels. There are no easy matches here....Rotherham have struggled a bit,but it's never been an easy place to come to. We have another difficult match on Saturday. The building blocks for future success are clearly in place,I'm optimistic for our future.....let's be patient, keep our feet on the ground.
A bit of perspective. I took my daughter to see Chelsea v Southampton on Saturday. Southampton are bottom. Chelsea are 10 places above them. Chelsea have just spent €250 million and have a striker or 3 available. Southampton won and deserved to win. They pressed and fought, took their chance, and no one could complain. Chelsea had an off day. It happens! The lads still tried their best - just played badly.
K It will have been coached into him since he was 8 onwards. They wont be coaching it into him now, it is an entirely natural way to play of you are in centre mid. I was coached to play that way 40 odd years ago, nothing new. I can all but Guarantee the last thing Mowbray will be doing is trying to stop it. The very best midfielders, who play in the middle of the park play that way, it is why it is the most technically challenging place on the pitch. You cant always play the way you are facing in there, if you did we would never move up or down or side. Fans have to either stick by him, and young lads like him, or we will go backwards in my opinion. They will make mistakes and have off nights, like Neil did last night. But blimey, surely he has a hell of a lot more credit in the bank with us.
I get that the top top players do it. However, they rarely get it ripped away from them and can recover. Neil, on multiple times has lost the ball on the turn in really dangerous positions. Then, he is incapable of a recovery foul to stop the counter. Don't know what his effort was last night but it was insufficient.
I dont normally knock big Tone but on this occasion i make an exception, you ballsed it up. after the Bristol disappointment this was a game we really needed to win. full strength team normal formation and let them worry about us should have been. But no you changed the team changed the formation and played into their hands. Big Big balls up. hope you realise this.
I agree mate, the formation and selection was completely wrong along with not making changes at half time. I can’t even work out where some of the lads are meant to be playing at times
My thoughts for what its worth is there are some venues we just can't do a lot at and Rotherham' s new stadium seems to be one of them, mind there are others and I would include Coventry on that list so watch out on Saturday. Both teams missed chances and the score could have been anything, we can't win every game and whilst disappointed to lose I can understand we are a young team on a high learning curve. I've no problem TM making changes, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't we just have to move on. The lads don't go out there looking to lose but we're looking a bit leg weary and thankfully they'll get a little break after the weekend. Wherever we finish up is a bonus for me as we're not going back to league 1 so crack on lads and try and enjoy the rest of the season. OaU.
Have to disagree mate, particularly about costing us points. It is a team game and rarely does andividual earn or lose points on their own. Neil makes a mistake but then so do others, have a look at Hume tracking back, he is the last to get back in there and he is the fesshest on the pitch. Onien out of position too. Others, with pace, hardly seemed to be busting a gut. He makes less mistakes than others, in this team game, so to single him out as costing us points doesnt seem reasoanble to me. Could just easily say Baath cost us points by not closing down for the first, but that wouldnt be right either for me. Dan had a poor game, along with 6 or 7 others. It will happen with this young side. We have to take the rough with the smooth and trust Mowbray with them. He said last week Dan Neil will play premier league football for years. Last night wont chamhe that. Ballard and Cirkin will both do the same for me, both struggled last night too and have made mistakes. Part of the game.
It is part of the game and I like him. Just don't see many players lose the ball on the half term that lead to opposition having an immediate threat on goal. Happened loads this season , so not just last night. He seems to think he has more space and time than he has. One think he needs to improve on I think. PL CM will eat him alive at this rate. He is developing. I would have hooked him and Amad last night. Both were the worst on the pitch for me.
I didn't mind the changes in players. I like the team as individuals. The system was horrible first half though and set the tone for the game.
What a terrible post this is, in my opinion of course. Heart of a pea and no bottle! Really! Mind boggling stuff. One loss, in an otherwise brilliant run of form, during which Dan's heart of a pea must have really held us back.
He'll know exactly what went well and what didn't. There will be a reason for everything he's done. We might not understand it, we might not agree with it, it might not have worked, but there will have been a justifiable reason. There's so much prep goes into a game and decisions will have been made based on a variety of factors. I'm not sure we, as fans, always take this into account.
