It's a strange one at Rangers. Almost every game, home and away, is a cup tie against inferior sides for whom a draw receives a lap of honour. As Mowbray said, every single week, the Championship teams/games are different every week ... ... I'd say it's impossible to have 'a style' in our position. We're not a PL side, like Leicester, and don't have top quality experienced players. So we need guile and adaptability to pick up points in various games.
Rangers won the league unbeaten under Gerrard by primarily focusing the wings its just another nonsensical whinge about nowt. If you play narrow and lose you get called out and if you play wide and lose you get called out.
Apart from the Leeds & WBA games we have been generally poor recently and yet here we are still 7th in the league. If Beale can get the players on side and we play like we know we can we can still get out of this league and, in my opinion, keep the players we need. I think they all want to be here but understand they have ambition. I cannot believe that KLD & KS havent got that ambition as well.
KLD was at the Hull game at Christmas mate ... ... if that doesn't say everything to you, you're refusing to listen.
away point is always good, when people are upset because they never got all 3 points then the squad are doing something good. beale is not going to make a change yet, he needs to look at the lads playing football rather than training, then the winter window is only a couple of days away. i have to say i feel the lads have been below par for a few months now, they have not turned into worse players in fact they have improved but they will feel that little bit of pressure creeping in, especially if the crowd get disgruntled and need that burst of confidence...i have noticed lately that when we play through teams and get close to goal we somehow 'lose' the ball, hume had a great run through in space but for no known reason he took the ball off to his right rather than ahead and lost the ball, if beale can do it he needs to stop the rush of blood they seem to suffer from now. middle third of the pitch we are probably one of the best in the league but first third we are slowly being more solid but need a little work and last third we look lost apart from clarke/roberts trying to do it all...not sure what fans expected from beale (or any other coach for that matter) at this point in the season, when the first eleven are pretty much standard and are still floating around a play off spot even though they have not really been at their best, get that final bit in place and i am sure we will still have plenty to cheer about.
Not read this thread in full, just a skim. Have family here and we watched the match together. My view is we were poor on the whole. But we scrapped for the equaliser and we went for the winner. Attitude is not to be questioned. I am starting to think we have a lack of quality this season in the playing staff. It doesnt look like coaching to me, it looks like a lack of ability to do the difficult things. Unless we do something in Jan to add 2 or 3 key players this season might be one to improve the players for next year, but be prepared for the best ones to move on in the summer. Adil looks good, and will be better next year. Hoping one of the strikers is the same, but at some point you have to assume three gaffers dont pick them because they arent good enough. Ba still has plenty of talent for me, but needs to learn how to use it with intensity. Pembele looked good last night - a bright spot. About time Rigg is unleashed, better than all of them in my opinion. We are a small winning run away from the play offs looking likely, but I do think we need to do better in the window coming to give us a real chance. We will also be fending off interest in Clarke, Neil and Ekwah in Jan. Big decisions to make. If we take Neil out of this side we would be bottom half. I would shift Ekwah for decent money personally and use it in Jan if we can. (That defensive header last night from Ekwah is one you coach kids not to do - maddening).
I may be wrong (as, as I say, I don’t follow the Old Firm) but didn’t they have an even higher win percentage and were just unfortunate to come up against an outstanding Celtic side under Ange Postecoglu?
I hope us as fans can give him that time, I know we lost Diallo, however we havnt become a bad team over night, ive said before I'm not one to criticise the team or club, but we do look like we've ran out of ideas and can only play one system. There has to be players in the club that can do things different, it's been mentioned a few times by other posters why don't we swap Roberts and Clarke in different sections of the game, watching Clarke up against the full back, he was showing him the outside all the time, bur even when Clarke cut inside they had doubled up so he runs in to traffic, it showed against Hull if you leave him 1v1 he will destroy the full back that's why teams aren't. Teams will have planned to play this way, yes start the first half as normal if it's not working swap them over at half time the opposition will have not planned for this at all. I'm not claiming to be a top coach but it just seems a the minute we have a plan but if it's not working keep going and hope it does. I'm starting to sound like a windgy twat, I'm really not normally, just starting to get frustrated that we seem to have no plan B. Let's hope Beale is our plan B and just needs that bit of time then I can shut the **** up
Was canny high at one point aye. But then had a bad turn and fans completely revolted against him. Don't think I have met or seen a positive comment from the rangers bunch on Beale.
I’m not saying we’ve improved on the pitch massively, but there was a bit more to TM sacking than asking for a striker. 2 wins in 9 or 10 games I think it was as well. Had nobody liked him, they’d have been clamouring for his head long before he went. I didn’t want him gone btw I’d have been happy with 4 points from the last 2. Probably happier if it was the other way around mind. Thought we looked decent against Hull. Not cutting (but we haven’t for quite some time) but played decent stuff. Haven’t seen last nights game at all. Only the goals. Worldy from them!! Typical really!! He’ll hit that shot a hundred times more before he scores another one!! But seemingly the attacking play was pedestrian. As it has been this season without Prichard playing!!
At the moment from watching last night especially first half we looked like a team trying to put early balls into the box but kept reverting back to our inverted wingers and passing tactic. I think this points to two things 1 My opinion is that MB is trying to change a well ingrained tactic. 2 Dodds has had more influence on 1st team proceedings than we all realised even under TM Just an opinion but we seemed to be trying to play 2 different tactics at the same time which led to a very disjointed first half performance
The many Rangers fans I know are all totally amazed we have taken Beale on, and predict he wont last a season . We will have to see but they were right about Flo way back and have a soft spot for Sunderland with the McCoist / Baxter etc connections so its more sympathetic than malicious. Of course we will all l know that by the end of the season if they were right or wrong , but certainly not after this hectic fixture schedule he has bravely walked into is over. OaU
It was a cracking day out yesterday, despite the poor performance. Love evening away games. please log in to view this image
