We learned that lesson on a smaller scale with Maja. Only this time we are not desperate for the money. Let him run his contract down if that's the way he wants to play it. Gives us a year and a half to find someone else. He only cost us £300k. Would pay more than that in loan fees for some disinterested unproven Prem young strikers over 3 yrs.
If we get 15 million and we reinvest that in 2/3 quality players then thats better than letting him run his contract down

Get him back in the side after the world cup and hopefully he carries on banging them in, if he wants to go in the summer then shake hands and take as much as we can for him. Contracts mean nothing anyway, even if we improve his contract and the money is still put on the table for him he can still go. I would be gutted but he probably has one chance at getting his premier league move and its looking like it will be before the summer.

He'd start for any team in the Premiership barring maybe 5 or 6 for me so it's inevitable he's gonna get attention from higher up. If we do sell I'd hope it was for big bucks but we wouldn't be able to replace him with better. In my opinion of course.

He's a top quality striker who I do think could play at the top level, however there's always a question mark over whether players can make the step up to the Premier league and Stewart has played well in half a dozen games in the championship. I know he's 26 and will want to test himself at the highest level but it could also backfire on him and if he does go I don't think it will be to a top half Premier league team either were chances will be a lot more scarce than what they are now.
I think it was super Kev that was asked the difference between the championship and Premier league and he said in the championship you will probably get 5 chances with 3 seconds to decide what to do in the Premier you are lucky if you get 2 and you don't get a second to think.
That is an absolutely massive difference to a striker

I love Stewart but no chance there's only 5 or 6 teams he wouldnt start for in the PL. The PL is a huge step up from the Championship. Out of interest which were the 5 or 6 teams you were thinking that he wouldnt start for?
