tbf the David Bentley comparison is probably more insulting - Signing for Spurs when he was 24 as one of the best players in the country, the a couple of years later on loan to mickey mouse Russian clubs, before giving up the game in his 20s as a result of having some breakdown and deciding he didn't like the game anymore, last seen on Irish reality TV.

I don't know - Bentley did have a few good seasons whereas Franny was pure ****e

But does he have undoubted potential? He is 24 in a few weeks time and has had 1 or 2 good moments in the last 5 years. I would chance it more on Wheelchair than Barkley making it. He is at best a lower PL team player.

Difficult to say. He had undoubted potential but he is rapidly approaching the stage where you have to deliver on it. Jack Wilshere is probably the fair comparison. Similar sort of age, similar sort of profile. Sad really when you look at England's currently midfield. They are crying out for these two and Oxlade Chamberlain.

It would be easy to say they are not playing because of injury, or blame the foreign talent in big team squads. Some of it has to come from within, and I don't think Barkley has had the best of attitude at times. Koeman wouldn't treat him like he has for no reason. Wilshere is injured all the time because he doesn't look after himself away from the game. Late nights at bars and tabs etc have been commonplace. Ox got himself at Arsenal and has struggled as he couldn't dislodge their expensive foreign signings.

These lads are suckered by huge wages to act as bit parts at big clubs, fill a quota, not play much and lose their way. Then they don't progress and are never the same. The sad thing is nothing is changing and young lads are still making the same mistakes. Ox is hilarious. In world cup year he has moved to a club to play no extra football. he should have dropped down a level in club and gone somewhere he was guaranteed football. He'll still go to the world cup but we won't get the best of him.

You term him a PL lower team player. Probably correct because of a lack of action. The big clubs can't afford to take their time with these players and allow mistakes while they develop. They should be smart enough and better advised to go get some football under their belt. But then Mr Adviser/Agent would prefer they went to Liverpool for an extra 15-20k because their cut is that bit juicier.
