This season we have, on occasion, played the best football I have seen from us in 50 years. Unfortunately, Rosenior hasn't managed to marry liquid football to a solid defence. Any of Bruce's teams, playing much less attractive football, would have wiped the floor with the current side. I wasn't surprised by the news today. Our owner is a maniac interested only in promotion - and he isn't willing to be patient. This was never going to end well.
Maybe the next manager will win promotion But there is no long term plan Nothing at all like brentfords or brightons Its just throwing **** to the wall and hope it sticks Shota failed Rosie 'failed' Man number 3s turn
So what? The last time we 'won' a window we got relegated. It's not about the names you sign but how they fit into how we play.
How many worked out? Carvalho and Omur from what 7/8 and the majority were loans with no long term benefit. Cash down the drain in hindsight.
It was Twitter I was eluding too more as opposed to on here. It’s an eye-watering read at the best of times but crikey, today’s been particularly heavy.
This is true, but he's ultimately responsible for recruitment strategy and we're likely to see a squad photo like 2016 at this rate. 'excellent job' is a bit of a stretch from where I'm looking right now.
It all seems a bit strange given that LR was given a new contract in December. I wonder if Acun feels under pressure from potential investors/sponsors to liven up the project before next season?
Tan can sign the players but he can’t pick the team. How many times did we start the game with three strikers on the bench and none in the starting line up? How many times did we start Liam Delap and Scott Twine on the wing? Wtf was Reagan slater doing playing as the number 1 selected right back?
It was said privately last season that Acun was coming under pressure from backers and sponsors. Ultimately he has to manage them as much as he does the playing side.
It's definitely not one person's fault at all. But it's not worked under Acun, and it becomes worrying when we have to undergo another rebuild. Grant was very savvy in the transfer market and it's underestimated how good he was when he was spending so little. Even in the year he got us back in the Championship, whilst the success rate on the whole wasn't particularly high, he was recruiting in for Championship with a L1 budget so it's an uphill challenge to say the least. But his recruitment in the L1 summer was the best we've had probably in about a decade now, since the SB days. Value for money was utterly superb. Repeat that this summer and we'll be top 2.
Yeh undoubtedly we’re in a messy position in terms of personnel but it’s a little unfortunate also in that Christie’s drop off was unexpected, Traore never got going despite looking like he might and Connolly not working out either. Lokilo seemed like a LR signing that didn’t work also.
