Give it to someone who has actually been there seen it done it and is interested in the job Joachim Low.
Thats who should get the job promote from within. He won the Under 21 Euros last year. Knows the young players coming through and is more attack minded than Southgate.
But in practice that hasn't really happened at Man City. You look at the players they've signed to have their success and it's mostly players that other clubs could've bought but didn't, and Pep improves them enormously. Signing De Bruyne was mocked, and no one had Rodri, Gundogan, Bernardo Silva, Walker for example down as top players before they went to Man City. Then you look at how Chelsea and Man U throw money around on players and actually make their signings worse, then replace them with further expensive signings the next window, its night and day. Haaland is the obvious exception, generally players of that ilk don't come to England, they go to Real Madrid, which he probably will do too before long.
Why should she take an interim job as the Mens coach when she’s already got a full time job as the Womens coach?
I don't think people realise how bad woman's football stacks up against the men's. It's nowhere near the National League level, the Yank Women's National team got comprehensively beat by FC Dallas U15s and they're amongst the best in the women's game. It's Sunday League level
He should be fine. He'll have first choice of all the best players who'll be queuing up to join him on low pay knowing it's the chance of enjoying the unique experience that's most important. It nearly worked for him the last time with the many international players he had available.
I don’t really understand why the comparisons need to be made. Do we feel the need to compare female Olympic gold medalists with men? Can’t we just enjoy and congratulate without having gritted teeth? One of my most favourite footballing occasions was watching England Women beat Sweden comprehensively in Sheffield in the semis of the last Euros. Great performance, brilliant atmosphere. Didn’t think once about the ‘quality’. Equally, have you seen the size of player that US womens team played against? 15 year old lads can be very strong and powerful. https://x.com/CarliLloyd/status/1722578947181830432 Alongside this - there’s the uncomfortable fact that men banned women from playing for a long time. Let’s just enjoy it shall we?
I don’t think anyone is suggesting putting Wiegman up front in place of Harry Kane. Specious argument.
Many of us do / can enjoy it. But this latest discussion started because of someone ridiculously suggesting Wiegman is the best qualified coach to replace Southgate!! Hence the subsequent comparisons (pointing out the standard is nowhere near the same).
Coaching is completely different though. No one is comparing the player quality, why would it be the same? There is no money put into it for women to catch up. There’ll be more money put into the Dallas academy than most professional women teams. It’s two separate entities, weird to even compare them, the only reason one would is to **** on women
while i can understand the comparisons and comments about levels, i''d still like to see alleged top managers who've succeeded at top clubs funded by arabian oil money try their hand on a shoe string at rochdale. on that basis, the quality of women's football shouldn't be a bar to a woman managing a man's team if it's about tactics.
Should I? Oh sod it, they should have gone for Beardsley, even Barry Bennell wouldn't. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
