We have to be able to deal with the rooney's of this world if we are to get anywhere. could this be 3 defeats on the bounce...I hope not but more than likely the way we have been playing of late, Im a bit worried that laudrup is trying things too much and we need to play where we are most effective. We dont want to spoil all the good work done by changing things too much anyway and try and stay in the top half until the transfer window opens where we can bring in some defenders and a much needed striker...we don't want to do a Blackpool..
 
If Rooney doesn't play and that helps us win a point or three, that will do me. Personally, I'll take a pass on watching other team's star players performing. They can perform all they like, as long as it's against some other team.

All I want is to see my Swans playing in the Premier League next season. If that happens, I'll be quite happy watching all these "star" players on TV. :smile:
 
I was looking forward to seeing all the top quality players coming to The Liberty but I can honestly say the best players I have seen have been Swans players. No single player has stood head and shoulders above ours.

Cue the Peter Crouch punch line ...
 
Last season I was very impressed with Vidic. I thought he was the best defender to visit and he was outstanding against us, I still believe if it wasn't for him we'd have got something from the game.
The other one that stood out was RVP, he looked a class act in a game that what over ran Arsenal. The worrying thing is that both of them could play on Sunday.

For comedy value, David Luiz and Balotelli stood out. Luiz was like a playstayion player and I'll never forget Balotelli's tantrums and shooting from the half way line.
 
always play against the best players you can, Its a bit of a let down when the big players dont play....

The novelty of watching the likes of rooney etc has long worn off although it is great to watch the opposition warming up and to think it's not a one off cup match ,we can only play and hopefully beat whats in front of us and if that means a diluted Man ure etc then so be it , 3 points is more important than drooling over the likes of Torres or Gerrard
 
I go to the liberty to watch the swans. I couldn't care less about the other team. All I want is to see the swans win. As for Dai's comments, I completely disagree. No change there then.

I think it's more of a case of some people having a bit too high expectations of the players and the teams capability to play their absolute best in every game, even against giants like Tottenham and Man U. Especially when half the team have only played together for 17 games and are having they maiden premier league season while the team is struggling with injuries.

I think ML knows exactly what he's doing and are fully aware of the risks and rewards his choices can generate and it is naive to think that the current Swansea can go through a whole season without having 2 or 3 straight loses on more than one occasion during 38 games.

I do agree that it can be argued or speculated that ML to some degree has made some tactical choices that the players have not been truly ready to implement and succeed in in certain games. On the other hand, that might be the reason we took 3 x 3 points against Newcastle, West Brom and Arsenal.
 
I think we all need reminding of the fact, that we were favourites with the bookies to go down with second season syndrome, but not only that, they felt that the upheaval of losing Rodgers, Allen, Sinclair, Caulker, and Siggy, would be too much for us in our second Premiership campaign, and hence why the bookies, and pundits had us as definite certs for relegation! But they didn't now the Swansea Jacks well enough did they, and it also shows what a great job Laudrup is doing considering the circumstances, and why I'll not be too worried, if we lose a few! I'm so pleased for our boys, they have been so consistent over the last three or four seasons, it's like a never ending story, long may it continue!..................<cheers>




PS: In the Grand scheme of things, we'll give a good account of ourselves, on Saturday, and Manu will have a real game on their hands, with or without Rooney!.........<ok>
 
Not heard anything about it but its likely Rooney will be fit, W,L or D good luck for the season

Rooney fit or not it will be a good test for the Swansea defense at home and it will be a good test for Man U too up against a team who play real football when they are at their best. Potentially a high scoring game I think and I wish I had tickets, but on TV here in the USA so I will get to watch. Enjoy the game all.
