If it happened at another ground it would be that team that we'd be looking to punish. No United fan blames Sunderland or any other team for that matter for us losing the title last season. City earned their right to win the league by averaging a better goal difference, none of us can argue that. We blew it when we were on top by a considerable margin, weeks prior to that Man City thought they had blown it with a few dodgy results. Rooney and his team mates aren't thinking anything other than giving our fans a bit of pay back for you guys rubbing our noses in it when it was apparent City had won the league. It's all academic, in the grand scheme of things we'd take a 1-0 win if offered to us now, as 3 points really is the most important thing for us to take from this game. Rooney is in great form at the minute, we have the best strike force in the league by a mile but it's not a game of headers and volleys down the local park, the whole team has to perform as a unit and that's something we've struggled with so far this season. If we stick 8 past you it wouldn't surprise me but it wouldn't surprise me either if it was a boring game with just the odd goal, as it usually is.
I don't understand what Rooney means by this, what's the worst he can do, help them take 6 points off us again? Hopefully the red-mist will descend and he'll get a red card in the first minute.

Thing is as a club we did EVERYTHING to help Utd win the title by firstly being the only club to take 4 points off them (nealry all 6btw) and handing your lot all 6? Far from looking to punish us, you should be willing us on in another week or so. I will lose to City a lot happier if Utd and Rooney come the big I am's this weekend. You will of course be aided and abetted by the ref and 2 assitants this weekend, so we will be playing the usual 14 men again no doubt?

League winning teams don't go round thanking other teams for taking points off the team that finished in 2nd. By that logic, Mancini should have publicly thanked Sunderland or any other team for not shipping another 9 goals over the two fixtures which would have seen us made champions. For those of you who know me I'm not really bothered about stuff like the Poznan I'd have probably done it myself if I was one of you. I think some of our players and Fergie took exception to it, but I can't see the dynamics of the game changing too much. We're brimming with confidence after the last result anyway, so there's no real need for any added incentive and we have our captain back, but like some of you have said, it's not like these players can just decide to play better than they normally do. It'll be tight, you don't get hammered often so a 1-0 or 2-1 will do me.
I've always liked Man Utd but Rooney is being a knob about it. Any football club in the world would have done that and like already mentioned we took 4pts off City.

hmm we got beat 4-0 in dec 2007 since then we have never been beaten by 2 goals off man u 0-0 1-0 0-1 1-1 2-1 but never by 2 goals or more. I think we may sneak a draw against them this time, really cant see them turning us over. (3-0 to 9-0 and some other silly scores)
Never thought of it, got to be honest though that would be one hell of a come back by them At the same time though, imagine we nick the first goal and do it to them again, the look on Roneys face would be priceless.
