No, the thing I object to if anything is you coming on here and comparing Rooney collecting his medal to Terry when it isn't the same. Rooney earned his and wasn't banned. Rafael earned his and did not receive the trophy, the captains did.
is this the terry thing when he got send off for that dirty kick on that player for no reason.. and on full time in the final he ripped off his kit as soon as the final whistle went like he was super man and he lifted the trophy lol
You're an idiot. Uefa asked all players who weren't involved to wear their kit. That's why not only Terry, but Ramires, Ivanovic and Meireles all had their kit.
wtf?!? How is it even 1% different to Raphael? Terry played in and captained the team in every game of that CL run bar the final, should he NOT go join in the celebrations because he was banned for the last game? How did Rooney earn his medal but Terry didnt?! Please explain?
Well Terry did his best to cost you the Champions League, got him self sent of in the semis and banned from the final and then was celebrating away like it was his achievement. I dont know how the 2 are being compared, Rafael has been excellent for us this season and played a massive part in us obtaining the title.
At what point did I say Terry didn't deserve a medal? Answer that and I might be arsed deal with the rest of your question.
Ok Guys, one thing, no one, no one at all is bigger than the club and that goes back to the early days. Sir Matt Busby is revered and not forgotten, and in the same vein Sir Alex Ferguson will be the same, but Rooney is just another player, a good one no doubt, but as with Best, Law, Charlton there comes a time when its in the interest of the club as a whole there has to be a parting of the ways. Who would have thought that a few years ago RVP would be an idol of Old Trafford? If Wayne thinks he is better off elsewhere then so be it, Manchester United should get a healthy return on the £10 million paid for him.
10 million? it was closer to 30 in the end And Rooney proved he was bigger than the club when he asked to leave last time, Fergie even cried to the press to get Man u supporters on his back and camping outside his gaff and threatening him, only when RvP is now there is Rooney not bigger than Manu
It's such a tough position to be in when England's best striker is surplus to requirements. Fortunately for us, when one of our strikers makes a twat of themselves we can afford to let him go.
Re: the Terry vs Rooney / Rafael argument. Could it not have something to do with Terry being a complete twat? Seriously though, its probably more to do with captaincy issues TBH. If Terry had gone on the podium.to collect his medal and celebrate with the players he wouldn't have gotten half the ****. But he tried to get in on lifting the trophy and was rightly crowded out by his teammates!
Yes mate, but don't let that get in the way of it being 'just the same'. And it's Rooney who gets the thread on the Chelsea board. You know, Rooney. Not sent off, not suspended, merely dropped and well worthy of picking up his medal Rooney. Also just the same.
A thread started by bipolar Drogs, not really worth worrying about! Loving KingChav64's comment in that thread. Imagine the bling on that guy!
nobody is having a pop AT Rooney, just the people criticising Terry. Rooney was used as the example because he's a high profile player like Terry, there were also other Chelsea players suspended who did the same as Terry who didn't get one mention for celebrating with their kit on. The point I'm trying to make is that Terry got some extremely unnecessary stick for celebrating the win of the most prestigious club trophy on earth at the club he spent his entire career, just because it's Terry. You also asked earlier where did you say you thought Terry didn't deserve a medal, the bit in bold suggests just that Ruff. Terry is our captain, has played at Chelsea his entire professional career, played a big part throughout the CL campaign and was asked by UEFA to wear the kit underneath. He did nothing wrong, and neither did Rooney/Rafael or anyone else for that matter. I didn't want to argue about it, was just bringing the point up.
I'm not worried, more in despair that there are actually people out there who think the two situations are the same. Actually yeah, that is a worry thinking about it.
If it were just that he got stick for celebrating then you'd be right, but we both know that is not the case. He got the piss ripped, rightly, for donning his kit and acting like he'd played his part in the game. We both know that's the case and the reason I'm arguing the case in Rooney's favour is because it is not even remotely similar, let alone the same. I do think Terry was worthy of medal and have never said different so you're using poetic licence on my words, wrongly. What I think he should have done is what Keane and Scholes did in '99 but couldn't help himself. Therefore he gets stick. He played his part overall but he also very nearly cost you it by getting a ridiculous straight red. It was the act of the players for the rest of that semi and the final that won you the CL, not him.
I heard today from a very good source at the match that some weeks ago Sir Alex gave Rooney a good bollocking over his lifestyle ie ***s , Booze and Grannies. Since then Rooney has thrown his dummy out of the pram and Fergie has shown him who's boss.
Best atmosphere ever. That was beautiful and lovely. We had the place rocking throughout. We now welcome our 20th Manager, could a club be more stable?
