Good thing he will stay as a captain of England. He's a good player

Rooney is in decline. Of that there is no doubt.

What best shows the dearth of talent we have in the national team that we have to turn to a useless water carrier donkey like Henderson to replace him both as captain and in his "new" midfield role?

The press is like a group of piranhas, swarming all around Rooney to get their pound of flesh. Each ****ing despicable journo trying to outdo each other to sink their knives in and to write the most critical article. The RS player is getting very good reviews from the same journos who not so long ago wrote that he didn't deserve to have a place in the national team so limited was his talent. Any fan worth his salt would know that Henderson is not fit to lace a Rooney's boots when the latter was at his peak.

As usual the national team is a global joke. First the manager, now Rooney and Henderson. The ****ing farce never ends.

I don't give a **** about England, but you can't have a go at them without dragging a Liverpool player in. Get a ****ing grip <doh>

A couple of the names bandied about by the press as captain were weird to be honest.

Cahill. Honestly, is he a guaranteed pick?
    Henderson, ditto above. Surely not.
Stones, just about got into the side, way too early.

Personally I would have thought it came down to one of two, Smalling or Dier, and neither was even mentioned.

    *disclaimer - I don't really give a **** if I'm perfectly honest*

Do we have guaranteed starters for England? Very few captain material amongst any of these. I would said Hart a few months ago but then he got discarded by Pep and his place is no longer certain.

Possibly not but in midfield you'd have Dier ahead of Henderson and at CH you'd have Smalling ahead of Cahill.

    Surely????

England such a bunch of ******s. Labouring against a team like Slovenia. Will they still blame Rooney for this pathetic performance? England very fortunate not to be behind. The RS water carrier totally useless and anonymous.

As old and slow as Rooney supposed to be, he is still better than any of these useless overpaid lumbering slobs on the pitch.

The so called pundits and experts will have egg on their ****ing faces.

Looks like they will have to find something else to blame, well unless he comes on for the last 5 minutes

I take it Rooney is using his magic remote control powers to slow play down again?

How these useless pundits thought that England could do without Rooney (even in decline) is beyond stupid! Slovenia one of the world superpowers dominating England and unlucky not to be 2 or 3 goals up.:)

Useless Southgate need to swallow his pride and bring the old geriatric on. <ok>

United may well cope without Rooney but England? Ffs Southgate needs to grow a pair and not follow the ****ing hounding pack.

A tiny country of 2m people not only holding England but should have won by 2 or 3 goals. England had hardly any chances.

Maybe Rooney is having a bad influence in the squad from the bench? Cannot wait to see what the experts write in their rags tomorrow.

Pressure of captaincy would be far too much for Dier. Seems he currently can't even handle the pressure of being England's only decent player at the Euros.

Just do what Spain did, give it to the goalkeeper and avoid all the bollocks and distractions over an armband. Casillas is still their captain despite not being selected for the last few squads.
