Ah fair enough. Actually I reckon Rooney should get the same - three match ban with two suspended. That way he has a bigger incentive not to do it again - might actually help the dozy bastard make the connection.

Were Drogba's two suspended activated after his sending off against Inter last year? It does look like there's a pattern emerging there - Drogba gets sent off or does something stupid and Chelsea crash out...I'll have my fingers crossed for more idiocy from him tonight <ok>

    Nonsense.

You cant do what he did and get away with it. Great player but what a moron.

As with Fergie, he has overstepped the mark and must be punished. A fine is no punishment to players/managers and deduction of points would be too harsh. What else is left?

What Drogba did was probably worse but then he was on the end of the worst referring performance in living memory, Rooney had just scored a hat trick!! It beggars belief.

Fergies is a completely different case and irrelevant to this one.

I fail to see how this isn't just a case of te F.A. buckling under media and supporter pressure to make an example of Rooney. Punished he should of been, I'm not disputing that, but a 2 match ban is excessive when you consider that you can get less for throwing an elbow. A fact highlighted by an incident involving this very player.

A fine and at the very most a one game ban wouldve sufficed.
