The one thing that has to go into room 101 is L*t*n town, Do I really have to identify one reason there are so many! The top one has to be that detestable team that says it plays football in a kennel. Frankly I think that's an insult to every dog I've ever seen chasing a ball. Other reasons for that detestable town going int 101 include origin for the 7 7 bombers and a hotbed of racial hate crime and rogue terrorist cells in the name of islam, the stink of the place, the airport, the crappy cars and trucks they inflicted on the population, Eric Morecombe, M! congestion, oh and did I mention the human detritus that support their so called football team...

What is trolling? Who is a troll?

Obviously to someone the meaning is different than to others ...

Is trolling or trollish behavior:

- An obnoxious way to try and get attention in strangers' comment threads, usually very negative, aggressive and rude texts

- Fighting with anyone that disagrees

- Someone trying to get even with the world no matter how.

- Getting a feeling of power from antagonistic behavior

- Someone with a lousy self-esteem

- Someone who likes to hurt people. A warped mind, perhaps

Bantering among friends is not trolling, you know your friends and how much they can take (mmmmm......)

Internet Trolls Are Narcissists, Psychopaths, and Sadists
Trolls will lie, exaggerate, and offend to get a response.
In this month's issue of Personality and Individual Differences, a study was published(link is external)that confirms what we all suspected: Internet trolls are horrible people.

Let's start by getting our definitions straight: An Internet troll is someone who comes into a discussion and posts comments designed to upset or disrupt the conversation. Often, in fact, it seems like there is no real purpose behind their comments except to upset everyone else involved. Trolls will lie, exaggerate, and offend to get a response.

What kind of person would do this? Some Canadian researchers decided to find out.

They conducted two online studies with over 1,200 people, giving personality tests to each subject along with a survey about their Internet commenting behavior. They were looking for evidence that linked trolling with the "Dark Tetrad" of personality traits: narcissism, Machiavellianism, psychopathy, and sadism.

They found that Dark Tetrad scores were highest among people who said trolling was their favorite Internet activity. To get an idea of how much more prevalent these traits were among Internet trolls, see this figure from the paper:

Look at how low the Dark Tetrad scores are for everyone except the trolls! Their scores for all four traits soar on the chart. The relationship between trolling and the Dark Tetrad is so significant that the authors write in their paper:

"... the associations between sadism and GAIT (Global Assessment of Internet Trolling) scores were so strong that it might be said that online trolls are prototypical everyday sadists." [emphasis added]

Trolls truly enjoy making you feel bad. To quote the authors once more (because this is a truly quotable article): "Both trolls and sadists feel sadistic glee at the distress of others. Sadists just want to have fun ... and the Internet is their playground!"

The next time you encounter a troll online, remember:

  1. These trolls are some truly difficult people.
  2. It is your suffering that brings them pleasure, so the best thing you can do is ignore them.

Armchair generals are getting on my nerves just now - apparently we can wipe out every threat to national security within 24 hours if we use the right tactics. Well go on then...

Oh and every football fan who thinks they are an expert on accounting and finance and have a better understanding of their, and other club's, finances than KPMG. There's some out there who appear to know more about tehir business models than they do about their left back <doh>

Has to be cold callers automated or otherwise ringing me at all hours about PPI, insulations, solar panels, compensation and anything else..... even as a TPS subscriber they still keep coming :emoticon-0130-devil

"National Advice Clinic fined for six million cold calls

A company which made almost six million nuisance calls in the space of six months has been fined £850,000.<diva>

Accrington-based National Advice Clinic made the calls about noise-induced hearing loss claims between October 2014 and April 2015.

The Claims Management Regulator (CMR), which oversees the compensation claims industry, said the cold-calling was "deliberate and sustained".

The company was not contactable for comment."

Many of those contacted by the company, which also trades as the Industrial Hearing Clinic and the Central Compensation Office, were on the Telephone Preference Service - designed to stop people receiving cold calls.

As a result, almost 2,000 complaints were made to the telecommunications industry regulator Ofcom.

Industrial Hearing Clinic was the subject of a BBC Panorama investigation in 2012, which looked at "very persistent" cold calls made by the company.
