Haha! No I believe if it was up to Ashley, Rondon wouldn't even be a cursory thought at the club tbh. but pushing 30, by the first 6 games of next season he'll be there - he may turn out to be Glenn Murray who is still banging goals (more than Rondon) until he's 35 but equally this could be his peak season. One year left on his contract after his extension last year and if West Brom fail to come up they aren't in a strong negotiating position. Signing on fee's and bonuses would probably push it beyond the £15m mark any way and he'll be looking for a good wage as this will be his last decent contract.
If Rafa wants him to stay and the club want Rafa to sign then it'll happen regardless I reckon, simple as that. We aren't gonna shell out £45m for Joe Linton and if we're gonna replace Rondon with someone who is gonna do better than he has this season then we're gonna have to break our transfer record again in my opinion. He seems to link up well with Perez and Almiron so Rafa will be keen to see that continue if it's at all possible. This may all hinge on what happens with WBA, Gayle and Murphy as well so it's all up in the air until that's decided I reckon.
He didn't look fit to me,seemed very leggy, don't know if it was the traveling he's been doing, but didn't look right, maybe carrying a bit of timber
I agree very reminiscent of early season performances. Perhaps its the international travelling like you say, I couldn't see any real timber on him like early season.
This is exactly the point. If you are going to buy a player who is going to make the same or better contribution for a CF who are difficult to come by you are talking 30 million nowerdays.
