how can he be the best player in the world wearing a barca shirt and not when wearing an argie one? does he suddenly lose all that skill he possesses? as for you placing pele up there with maradona, why? his international record is top yes, but he played 95% of his career in brazil and the rest in usa. hardly top level, is it? but if you don't care about where they played, and ask most brazlians who the best player ever is and the majority will say garrincha. pele has done a remarkable job of promoting himself as the best player ever..most of his fellow countryman wouldn't even nominate him as their best ever..let alone the greatest ever seen
You really can't read can you? I said he excelled at club level, unless you think 1087 goals in 1120 games is poor? And his international record was superb. You really are thick Kamran, you read things that aren't there and jump to conclusions. You're also a total hypocrite and think that anyone who disagrees with you is bitter whilst trying to claim that your incredibly childish signature isn't bitter
He plays like the best player in the World for Barcelona, where he has the support of Iniesta and Xavi, but he is far less affective for Argentina whereas over players have been just as affective for club and country.
Ronaldo doesn't play for Argentina Ronaldo doesn't really peform at international level either but he has a far far weaker team around him than Messi. This current Argentina side have better players than Maradona's (player) Argentina side yet Messi's influence is far less than Maradona's was.
international football is ****e and has been for years..the last world cup proved that. the highest standard is club football
After you'd been throwing abuse at me for having a different opinion on Messi. Only being fair and playing by your own rules.
because of the quality of his international team mates are truly shocking. you said earlier that the argie team maradona took part in wasnt as good as this one..based on what? it doesnt matter how good you are, you need 10 other good players around you. it seems to me that you're saying this argie team are better than the won that won the WC because they've got big marketable names like aguero, messi and tevez. any team that wins the WC is good..no matter how much of a genius one particular player is they haven't even got a top class midfielder now..let alone midfield. someone like gutierrez wouldnt had got anywhere near the old argie teams from years ago. whos the last brilliant midfield player they had? veron? riquelme was decent but not wizardry.
The Argentina team Maradona played in is widely recognised as not being a particularly strong side yet Maradona shone for them. This current Argentina side is packed full of top class players yet Messi has yet to excell for them and has much less of an impact than he does for Barcelona. If he was amongst the best players of all time then he should be able to shine for Argentina too regardless of who is playing around him, like other players have done in the past.
watching him. Not to mention his goal and assist statistics. To me there is no doubt that Messi is the best at the moment.
i'll say it again. it doesn't matter how good any one individual player in your team is, no "ordinary" team wins the WC. so have you watched all 60 of messi's games of argentina and come to the conclusion that he's ****e for them? or maybe watched a couple of copa america games and some at the WC and decided he's useless on the international stage? international football is no longer the pinnacle of world football. hasn't been for years. if messi can do it in the biggest game in club football, then i fail to see how he can't do it on the international stage against more lowly opponents. maybe you should be looking at the shower of ****e he has to play with in a blue and white shirt on a consistent basis. argentina 86 were a solid platform that allowed maradona time and space to able to play. the latest argentina are ****ing awful.
I don't get what is so bad about someone saying that Messi in a Barcelona shirt is better than Messi in an Argentina shirt. The difference is almost a fact. Messi is the best player in the world and one day he will win the World Cup, I can't believe anything to the contrary, Argentina will flukely get the right man in to manage their national team. I don't think the OP is doubting that Messi is the best in the world but I don't understand why people are slating him for pointing out the obvious- that Argentina Messi isn't the same as Barcelona Messi. I prefer Ronaldo over Messi purely because of the connection that he has to United but that doesn't mean that I don't appreciate Messi or don't think he isn't the best in the world. Sometimes I wonder why some people can't understand (don't have to accept) other people's views and are so stubborn to even open their minds to new thoughts. Cavemen, or caveboys I should say.
the barca messi and the argentinian messi is the same bloke. he doesnt lose that skill when he puts on his countrys shirt. maybe people should look at argentina and their failure in being able to play to get the best out of him, rather than the other way round.
Hence why I said that Argentina will eventually, by hook or by crook get the right man to manage the team, I ain't disputing that. I'm also not denying that Messi is the best in the world and despite what most people think he had a good World Cup but for whatever reason (players around him, rubbish system) he hasn't put in the performances that people (rightly) laud him for in a Barcelona shirt.
