Not sure why we are arguing this. It is bit like choosing between Joselu and Gayle. Or HBA and a cheeseburger
BBC - Messi has missed 21 of 86 penalties for Barcelona by the way. Probably the only player in the world who would rather have to dribble from halfway, one-on-one. He'd score every time

Bit harsh to say Messi hasn't done anything for Argentina. He captained them to the final of the last world cup and despite losing he was deemed to be the player of the tournament and was MotM for 4 of the 7 games he played in. Ronaldo for me though, but lets be honest, they're both ridiculously talented. The best player I've ever seen play in the flesh was Ronaldinho and I'm sure he had a bearing on the development of Messi (when at Barca) but if my team is losing with 10 minutes to go who would I choose to have in my team to turn it around? Ronaldo 100%
Messi for me. Both incredible but Messi is just a better player and more pleasurable to watch. Baresi still greatest of all time.
Main difference for me is Messi is more of a team player. The sum of all parts is greater than the individual components.
I don't watch either of them that much at club level these days. Is it fair to say Messi's best years are behind him and Ronaldo is still at the top of his game?
La Liga last season would suggest that isn't fair to say. I do think Ronaldo is more of a big game player but that's hard to judge. It's a bit like asking if you'd prefer a million pounds worth of diamonds or a million pounds worth of gold.
