    Point by point.

    united or barca --- barca.
    chelsea or madrid --- madrid
    city or valencia ---- city
arsenal or villareal --- well id say villreal are alot better than udiness and arsenal struggled against udiness so in my opinion villareal but im sure you'll argue.
Spurs - sevilla ---- again opionion based sevilla.

Secondly ronaldo scored 31 in 34 when he was 22, he scored 40 in 34 when he was 25-26 and was is hitting his peak.

and lastly while real madrid failed to perform in europe, the team that knocked them out last year was barca and in my opinion real madrid would have beaten united.

I can't honestly remember the last time Villareal did better in Europe than Arsenal so I can't see how you can judge them to be better based on one match when Arsenal were missing key players. I guess we'll see who gets farther in Europe this year...I know who my money will be on <ok>

Sevilla didn't even make the EL group stage this year, so given that Spurs are pretty much joint favourites for the competition with PSG it's very hard to see what this opinion is based on.

At the end of the day, if a team like Barcelona are dominating in the Champions league then people then try make out la liga is of a fantastic quality but the reality is apart from Madrid and Barca, La liga is not a top league and most teams are of poorer standards.

Chelsea have outperformed Real Madrid in Europe for years, with the exception of last season when they were knocked out by another English team.

Arsenal are much better than Vilareal. What have Vilareal done in Europe the past few seasons? Nothing.

Sevilla better than Spurs - are you kidding me? When was the last time Sevilla did anything of note?

For years now English teams have outperformed Spanish sides in the Champions League, with the exception of Barcelona.

If La Liga is stronger then why have La Liga teams been so poor in the Champions League for the past few years?

Arsenal have been consistantly getting to the latter stages of the CL last 5 or so seasons. More than Real have done. And in any case, Real should be compared with Chelsea, not Arsenal. And even with that comparison, Chelsea are far, far better than Real.

Sevilla of Juande Ramos days were probably as good as the top English teams, that isn't the same Sevilla team though these days, they didn't make much impact in the CL after back to back Uefa cup wins.

Granted Spurs haven't done much in recent years, flattered to decieve the in the Uefa cup a few seasons ago but they are around the 5th or 6th best team in England and I'd back them to beat their equivalent Spanish team.

Because it's the only way you can get any idea of the levels of teams from England and Spain- by comparing their progress in the same competition. <doh>

Firstly which key players were arsenal missing against udinese? and secondly i wouldnt classify spurs as favs for the competititon, and the only reason you do is cause you know to little about clubs from other competitions barring la liga and the EPL, to judge them properly so you just go with the ones you think are obvious, firstly i highly doubt you've watched psg more than one in the last 2 or 3 years.

There are far too many variables to do a direct comparison like that <doh>

You can't seriously think you can compare teams by how far they get in a cup competition?

All four of those teams have done **** all in Europe.

Firstly im talking about the present and for me real madrid is the second best team in the world, the only reason they didnt get to the finals last year was cause they had to play barca before you.

Secondly arsenal have gotten significantly weaker this season, so we'll see how they do.

thirdly what the hell has spurs done of note in the last 40 years? they've gotten to a champions league quater final, so did cska moscow 2 years ago does that mean there top 8 in the world?

Its personal preference which league you like better ( i prefer the EPL ) but your just so biased its incrediable

Arsenal got to the final in '06, semis in '09, and quarters in '08 and '10. Which implies that over the past six years they have been one of the top eight teams in Europe in that time. How else do you judge their quality if not by that?

Wilshere, Diaby, Koscielny and Nasri, who was still an Arsenal player at the time were all missing from at least one leg. I don't think there is any rationale argument for any Spanish clubs barring Real and Barca being any better than Arsenal, who are only the fourth or fifth best team in England right now.

I classify Spurs as the joint favourites for the competition because they are the joint favourites across pretty much every bookmaker in the world. You know, the bookmakers who make millions of pounds from analysing and predicting the results of sporting events? The ones who employ armies of statisticians, odds compliers and experts to ensure that their opinions are as accurate as possible? The ones who actually do have an Unbiased Opinion <ok>

Why, who do you think is favourite for the Europa League this season?

Did i judge their quality? No. I simply said that the four teams Berb mentioned had done **** all in Europe, but also agreed that Arsenal had consistently got to the later stages. But bottling it and never being able to win it = **** all major success in Europe.

It's not my fault you have nothing to backup your claims that Vilareal are better than Arsenal, Real Madrid better than Chelsea and Sevilla better than Tottenham.

There is absoultely nothing to prove that.

You can only compare teams from different leagues by how they fair in the Champions League and English team's have outperformed Spanish teams in the Champions League over the past few years.

Despite Barcelona beating everyone in sight and picking up two Champions League titles in 3 seasons the Premiership still has a superior Coefficent to La Liga which is based on how the leagues' different sides perform in Europe.

I think it's fair to say a comparison is difficult and obviously controversial.

I think its fair to say United are without doubt the second best team in the world purely based on footballing terms. Of course thats all based on last season and things can change this season but I think with taking the title and reaching the CL final is enough to give United the honour of being the second best team on earth as there is no shame in being behind this current Barcelona side.

You can comment on the players at Real Madrid and on paper you can quite rightly argue that they are the second best, if not the best side in the world but footballs not played on paper is it?

Staters are you really classifying diaby to be in arsenals first team. thats just the first.

And secondly since you asked, the two teams i think will win are athletic madrid and twente. but barring those two it kinda seems like it escapes your mind that 8 more teams will be added to the competition after the champions league groups are finished, you know this right? i thinki i could name 2 or 3teams who i personally think are firstly better than spurs and will secondly not finish there groups in the top 2.

And also we are talking about the present here right? you can say all you want about arsenal getting to a final in 06, the fact is that they've gotten alot weaker in the last year, and since berb was bigging up spurs achivements, guess what, they have litrally done **** all.
