Let’s see how this FIA directive regarding bouncing will affect Red Bull and Ferrari. Just like how Horner had a fit over the no side pod Merc saying it was ‘illegal’ there are those that are now saying both Ferrari and Red Bull have a very aggressive interpretation of the rules

I love Newey, but he has a selective view of the rules and I guess he has to - he is there pushing all boundaries and it is down to the FIA to police things properly.

Onto this weekend, as I feared, McLaren having a total nightmare with their draggy car concept that is holding them back. Expected Alpine to do well here so let’s see how they race in sprint tomorrow, think they’ll be solid.

Crofty apparantly thinks the wind could mix up the grid today - I’ve just read that on Sky Sports.

Can we induce a vote of no confidence in him at Sky? FFS <laugh>

Didn’t realise they were having qualifying for the sprint race today. Should have been fp2 this afternoon and then qualifying / sprint race tomorrow

Didn't vote but was going to go le clerc here.

Track seems to be suiting the traction power rather than red bull

Well, currently in Q2 Hamilton is less than 2/10ths behind Charles at the top

And Hamilton has binned it around turn 7 for a red flag and damaged car.

Not a nice angle to hit the wall there so thankfully he is okay.

Not often we’ve seen Lewis do that in recent years, must be right on the limit with this car

Charles is losing 0.28 in the first sector. If he sorts that out, he’s got another pole in him.

Genuine question - what’s the craic with ‘Angela’ for Lewis and Mercedes?

She sure makes it into camera shot an awful lot for a personal trainer

And now Russell has binned it at turn 10 for another red flag. Way to go Mercedes <doh>

Great day turned to absolute disaster for mercs.

Russell is getting a pen here for walking back across track.

Croft and brubdle had a right moan about verstappen fans cheering hamilton accident.

Guess what? They never mentioned verstappen getting cheers for having issues at Silverstone. Pure double standards

I have no issue them cheering. I was very happy seeing the brat get a bit of a comeuppance last time.

    Come on ferrari.

Well the Merc looks quicker but apparently has some stability issues...

Still Q3 on a sprint weekend is the best Qualy session to crash in. They'll both be p5/p6 at least for the actual race.

Charles just can’t quite mail that first sector. He’s mighty in the final sector though. Sets it up nicely for tomorrow.

I have just caught up with Quali, and I am confused as to how Perez did not get his last lap in Q2 binned in real time. How was he allowed to go into Q3 and keep someone else out?

He was 12th or 13th until the last run - after the Stewards announced it would be looked at after the session, Sky showed a replay which showed he was clearly off the track on that lap, don't see how that was not seen by the Stewards at the time. A penalty on the grid does not help the driver who missed out now, any thoughts?

Le Tiss, well I did think that but thought I would let someone else raise it :)

'Outside limits' - I guess it could be as they wouldn't investigate otherwise. During the broadcast they talked about him being over the white lines, and in the clip they showed he was clearly over the line, and looked 'off the track'

Strange that both Mercs went into the wall. Doesn't seem to be any published reason behind it!
Guess George will get fine $$$.
Perez definitely went all wheels over while line so somehow he should get a grid penalty - maybe 3 place.
