I was beginning to wonder if you'd ever see it. It's second on my list too, behind Empire. I found it was even better on my second and third viewings, as you aren't mesmerised by the fact you're watching Star Wars, and you notice a lot more of the little things.
Well I had to see it at 11 am as all the other showings were sold out all the way to Sunday evening for every theater within about an hour drive. The showing I went to sold out as well but it sold out right before the movie started.
Meanwhile in a galaxy far away... a football team lost 2-0 and the punters aren't happy...see other threads.
I saw it last night, to me it just felt safe, predictable and almost pandering to nostalgia of the audience. Instead of being genuinely innovative and forging its own path like the originals did it was felt like a film designed to reignite the franchise and the associated merchandising and advertising juggernaut. Don't get me wrong it wasn't a bad film, I enjoyed it but it was nothing close to the the 8.8 it currently has on IMDB, the effects, acting and plot were probably on par with your average Marvel flick, enjoyable but vacuous.
I gave up on Star Wars after the first reboot, was that Phantom Menace , can't honestly remember. The first three were classics. Still haven't got over that new Mad Max film, shockingly bad- not sure why they felt the need to cast that posho British lad in one of the lead roles and the Hollywood woman (Theron?) they should have used unknowns if they were rebooting it. The next travesty will be when they remake Blade Runner, if they haven't already!
The Blade Runner sequel does worry me a bit. I think it'll be fine, but will be nowhere near the original.
All they have to do is follow the spirit of the book or even explore more of the robot society that the first movie didnt go into and it should be fine. I wouldnt make it a direct sequel more of another story in the same world.
I dont know, its considered one of the most important Science Fiction books of all time. The movie really didnt do the book justice so I certainly wouldnt mind it if they went more into the world that the book goes into.
I don't really have any kind of opinion on Star Wars films, but I do think it's sad that a thread about them keeps rising to the top of the list on a Hull City forum. A sign of the times maybe? Down with the X-box generation. Get out there and play football or climb trees or something ffs!
Think we are probably all a little old to be climbing trees. Ill rename the thread as soon as the trailer for Rogue One comes out. It should be coming out soon as filming is long done and the movie comes out in less than a year now.
I'd hate to see a remake of it. Despite everyone saying the original Total Recall was **** I loved it, & then they "remade" it, **** that was awful! They should have carried on with a different story, called it a sequel, not try to remake it. Mad Max another one they should have added to, not "remade," although watchable & not as bad as TR!
I forgot about Total Recall, that was shocking beyond belief, the actor in it is usually decent too (from the Killing US) , miles worse than Mad Max I agree with that!
Just realised I was on about Robocop not Total Recall, same thing still applies about remakes though!
They said that it was after Thunderdome but that they really didnt have a time frame for how long after it that Fury Road occurred. They also said that as opposed to a remake or a reboot they were calling it a revisit, just a one off story that they thought was worth turning into a movie.
