Sam Allardyce has worked with Carroll before, and Nolan is bezzy mates ... Would be strange to see Carroll go because then we'd lose another striker and we'll be back at square one again. Unless BR has something up his sleeve ...
As I said further up, we only have Carroll, Suarez and Bellamy up top now, if we sold/loaned Carroll, we need to bring two forwards in. Plus, the decent sides have options, especially up front. If Carroll goes, it leaves us short in the air. As I said, its just media bollox
it does seem (especially as the interivew where rodgers talked ac milan was on the lfc website) that two entirely different interviews were combined to make this. I still say if rodgers singled out carroll then conveniently segways into talking about general player mentality it really is tantamount to saying carroll has not got the mentality. I think that would be a huge mistake given the asset we have and how easy it would be to tip him to being useless totally. I think if we back carroll he'll get 20 goals.... hodgson preferred wellbeck who was useless, kenny kept benching him..... if rodgers does similar then ok we have to wonder why but just by talking publically you could take a 20mil player and make him a 10mil one. example... mr aquilani... if you run him out of town twice you take a player bought for 20mil but worth about 10 and make him worthless. IMO it'd be better to say ok i don't fancy carroll lets get 20mil privately and talk him up publically and move on... maybe the very worst thing to see is us struggle for goals while carroll goes to west bloody ham and scored 20 goals.
Either way - I'll be happy if Carroll stays but I won't be crying if he left. Good player who has improved a lot over the past few months. If it were someone like Reina, Agger, Suarez, Lucas wanting to leave or being shipped out, then I'd be concerned not only because we'd be losing their ability, but they are players that other top players want to play with.
I think it is just frustrating because he looked an entirely different player in the last few games and during the Euros - if this had been doing the rounds in March then no one would give a ****! Personally I would be gutted because people are starting to realise what this guy is actually capable of - I don't want some other club benefiting from that when we paid all that money for him!
i'd not be crying but if we've "no money" then a cheap season loan could potentially go very badly wrong and end up costing us what we could get for him... if rodgers doesn't fancy the donk then sell him. loaning him is pointless IMO, he's a senior player and won't improve by playing for west ham, he just needs to play for us.
Agreed - I find it strange as well as he looks like a monster up front now. But then again, we have to do what's best for the team and the style we employ and if BR doesn't think he'll fit, then so be it. Having said that, AC would definately give us a fantastic plan B.
Plus - when having a big man up front, it's easy to just lump it forward. This isn't AC's fault but it's just the 'default' attitude. By not having AC, it would force the players to learn and pick up the philosophy quicker as they won't have the 'long ball forward' as an option.
we can't be one dimensional and carroll offers an awful lot defensively to a side which frankly is small enough. i think a bollocking from the sidelines at lumpers should be enough.... the main thing I think is can andy chase down and harry/press players enough. if we are going to be a high line with 3 guys up front hassling back 4s then i think we've all seen carroll trot about not looking interested in closing down. is this keeping position or lazyness... does rodgers know? For me we've see andy run channels, hold it up, lay it off and be in the midfield area taking in passes... no problem when on form at all... i think to punish him for others lumping it is wrong. it has to come down to andy's ability to press and whether mr rodgers was quoted out of context.... his next press outing where a full in edited statement is given could clear it up as a load of hooey.
I hope this is just Rodgers way of making Carroll step up his game. Carroll has only just started to play to his potential and to send him out now would I mind mind would be insane. There's no way of knowing if he can adapt to the new system the players have only just started training again. Hopefully Rodgers is just trying to state that this is his squad now, but he should definitely give him a chance! I mean could we get much less for him than we woul get now?
yes we could... if west ham happened we'd be putting a 35mil asset (whch i think today we'd get 20mil for... maybe) in the hands of fat sam and hoping he picked him ahead of carlton cole... at which point every manc wum would point out that had hodgosn got his man we'd be better off and have the right man in charge still... fat sam might bench him cos we're paying half the wages etc and not care and then we'd end up with a total flop worth 5-8mil..... a disaster. If rodgers doesn't fancy him that his choice but he's gotta sell him on after looking at him for 6weeks not be talking this way before even meeting him face to face.
I agree but it would have been nice to hear Rodgers say something like that instead of what he came out with.
Fat Sam = Fergie's mate, who tried to stitch up Rafa for moving his hand. can they have Carroll? No, piss off and buy your own players
totally agree. fat sam should get no help of lfc.. he was sniffing round joe cole too... if we want to send players on loan they ought to be top yuong ones going to swansea using rodgers links and their new manager to give players like suso or shelvey a real leg up
Yea, we don't want Fat Sam educating our players on the art of playing lump it, park the bus bs football. Would be great to form a relationship with Swansea, great place to send the younger players on loan and in exchange, we will take Allen, Vorm and Sinclair. Cheers
I wouldn't give Fergie's mate f-all after his disgraceful imaginary hand signal nonesense a few seasons back.
I have to lol at the Carroll to West Ham, G&S ALWAYS annopunce these type of fairly tale signings, a couple of seasons ago it was Van Nistlerooy & Huntelaar, they announced a Brazilian, and it turned out to be one no one had ever heard of, that's the way they do things.
Looks like rogers is letting him go out on loan then.......This is rodgers inexperience shining through big time. If you can afford to spend £35 million on a player then you can afford to keep him until he comes good....Rodgers will regret this...
