Great news if true, as others have said this will send out a very positive message to the other players. Not sure how long his current contract has left to run?
No. We know it is rubbish until the club announces the news or unless it is absolutely obvious to anyone. I treat good and bad rumour coming out of the rags with just the same contempt. Usually, I put a rider alongside to say that in the case of good news, I hope it's true. But it's still rubbish until proven.
I tend to believe this JRod story because it is a bit random...none of us were worried about Jay as we assumed he had a longish contract anyway.
We may not need the core players to sign new contracts, but, if they and Mauricio did, it would show intent.
Pochettino has one year left, his contract is a priority. I don't really understand what intent we'd be showing if we gave new deals to players with 4 years remaining on their contracts.
It would show intent from the players though...no cast iron guarantee they would see out their new contracts, but it would show even the thickest member of the press that they weren't about to up sticks and leave.
Indeed. The only real concern is that Poch signs a long term extension. I'm about 99% sure [can never 100% - this is millionaires football after all] that all the other key players will fall into line if he does.
