First note that I am not calling for Rodgers to be sacked. That being said, Dortmund are currently in the relegation zone in Germany, meaning Klopp is under alot of pressure. So there could be the possibility of Klopp becoming available or be tempted soon. If the possibility does arise would people be interested to have Klopp? He's a rising name in European football, achieve great things before his team was cherry picked apart and would be better in transfer market as players would want to play for him. (Reus, Hummels etc)
Would be interested in seeing what Klopp could do at Anfield. Comes with a good reputation and name which is always helpful. Does Rodgers have that throughout Europe??
Incredible what's happening there. 5 straight defeats and he doesn't seem to know what to do to arrest the slide. That said I really rate Klopp, I think he's the genuine article as opposed to a bag of wind. If he did become available I think you'd be barking mad to pass up the opportunity
Klopp has proved that he can build an attractive team that can compete at the highest level. I wouldn't mind him being our manager should he be available. Although we'll be sorry to see Rodgers go, we must face reality. It now clear to all who wish to see that when he started with us he had a certain way of playing (tiki-taka) and when he tried it with us it didn't work. When he stumbled upon the incredible SAS partnership, he had to ditch his previous principles. Now that Suarez has gone, and SAS is no longer possible, Rodgers is totally lost. Like MITO I cannot see us progressing very much with him.
I laughed at Man Utd fans thinking they'd have a chance of Klopp so I guess I should do the same here
Timing is everything mate When you were laughing his stock was at its highest......now it's maybe a tad different.
Barcelona had a big strong footballers when they won just about everything. Messi, Iniesta, Xavi and Pedro are just four example of really big strong blokes who won everything in football.
Klopp is a fantastic manager - although he's had a poor start to the season, he's the one who got them back to the top level - winning titles, great CL campaigns, competitive but attractive squad - and the key thing is that his style/[philosophy are similar to LFC's. I think this is crucial as this is what FSG want - they don't want a coach/manager to come in with their own new ideas. They want them to come in and continue the same principles - similar to Soton and Swansea, and also Barcelona. I think it's far too soon to be calling for Rodgers's head just yet - he certainly deserves to the end of the season at the very least. He needs to realise that he needs helps in the form of experienced coaches and not yes men like Marsh and Pascoe.
i agree jimmy, just will most of our opinions stay the same if brendan doesn't get us out of this mess sharpish, esp considering a proper quality manager could be available. i hope brendan does turn it around, but if that offer for klopp is there, is it too good to turn down and would you really be saying until end of season at least? myself, not so sure.
My preference would be to change the structure withing the club, and get a DoF and quality coaches around Rodgers first, before sacking him. Rene Meulensteen was quite critical last week but he made great points. And I think he would be a perfect addition to the coaching staff.
Its like this; results count; but not for everything. the equation john henry has to weigh is; confidence in the the now, confidence in the future and trust with the resources Frankly I can see clearly why dalglish was dismissed.......... Andy carroll was a 35million waste of resource. downing was a 20mil waste of resource (depsite what west ham fans might say lately) A league cup win yes but no confidence possible in anything more than 7th. dinosaur tactics? FSG wanted a technical director and rodgers..... they compromised to get rodgers.. My great fear is the compromise is too great. No t to prevent full and total control of transfers but who is overseeing coaching development and facilities development and all those other aspects. An example of what I mean exists at southampton today, the man fell out with everyone but cortese has a CEO and DoF in effect. Theres 12 pitches at southampton now to account for evry rival clubs pitch size and grass type. they can train on the same pitch all week as thier next game! little details. You don't want a manager deciding with the best of intent on the color of nets or which sign to hang up at anfield... or on traing facilties or the stadnard of youth coaches as it distracts from the team and making it the very best it can be. So....... thats my worry on the compromise. We are in year 3. So far there's been one single good transfer window and frankly SEVERAL milestones that resemble the dalgish signings. Balotelli, lallana... borini... aspas, alberto. the list can go on and on... would you let rodgers spend another 50mil of your money? dlalgish can point to a suarez for rodgers sturridge but he got the sack. Rodgers got SAS and got 2nd. but this year it can easily be 7th again... what then? I feel personally we'll know this january. If we buy nobody Rodgers is going to be under real pressure in may to go. If we buy big at least it shows some faith in rodgers by the owners. Anyone can have a bad year, god knows wengers had a big share of them in the last ten years but if you stick by a guy you have to back him. I just hope by january we are not solely playing for league cup semi and fa cup 3rd round. I've a bad feeling that we hare not good enough to even get 3rd in our cl group now.... i can only cross my fingers.
10 games 14 points 3 points off 4th place. Even if Klopp was available i'd not touch him. The reality is even if he became available it is because he is suffering from the same problems that Rodgers is suffering from. He lost his star striker on a free to Bayern (Scandalous) and now can't seem to buy a win in the league. That we are soooo s*** at the moment and are still above Everton and Man united and Spurs gives me hope if we get it right this season's objective of top 4 will be achieved. Brendan Rodgers is 41 yrs old while Klopp is 47 years. Brendan Rodgers is still relatively young and building his career so to even compare them is ridiculous. If there is anything history has taught us is we never learn from history. Allardyce and Padrew are two of the much maligned managers who have been given time and have turned it around. Time people time!!
I do agree You want a clear delineation between first team and first team resources and the club facilities and youth policies. (in my view) The b team or u 21s or whatever you need to call it is a great source of coaches and staff for spanish clubs. What LFc needs is a leader to drive coaching standards. You'll notice ours have all left cos none got the backing and borrell is where? not at a small minor club is he? LFCs next coach/manager isn't coming form either a boot room nor internally. we've seen robbie fowler apply for the leeds job.. no chance robbie. you and carra are nuts. you must work your way up. at least rodgers worked his way up, you have to give him credit for that. I feel a technical director is needed. I feel we need a top to bottom focus at the club but whomever it is has got to be ring fenced away from the manager who'd got to have control of buying and selling and loaning too.
by the high standards he set out from yes, ie titles, but what is classed as failure to some is success to others, ie wenger would have gone a long time ago if he didn't keep getting cl football, yes i know they only take part, but revenue is key now days sadly as well as the performances on the pitch. also your point about spending in jan, i am still under the impression it will be sell to buy, i doubt he will be given more money to sell without selling.
allardyce and pardew... my god.... no sorry but i have to call that ridiculous. Pardew gets a few results here and there. allardyce got a couple lucky buys. they are not good managers nor are they good people. both send players out to break legs.
Do we want 3rd in the group, now there's another question to look at. Barring some miracle tomorrow, 3rd looks likely (at best). Ludo away could be difficult and by then Basel might only need a draw against us. Do we really want Europa football when we look so poor in the league already? Surely striving for the 4th place will be more important than a tilt at the EL (which I don't think we'd win anyway)
Most of the successful clubs in history have operated with a Technical Director, with the 'manager' being the First Team Coach. The only managers I can think of who operate under full autonomy are Wenger and Fergie, and they had earnt that right after years of success. If FSG imposed a Technical Director on Rodgers, do you think BR would walk, or stay?
Last season we didn't start playing well until December, and even then lost games we should have got points from We could still achieve 2nd in the CL group, 4th in the PL, win the League Cup and the FA Cup aka the #quadruple
Agreed - it's still early however, our performances this season are akin to Roy's. That's how poor the football has been.
good question but one i will answer after we are humiliated against real, you never know in football, we have been to the nou camp and won, never know however unlikely. if we somehow get a good result maybe we might have a bit more confidence and think **** it title and cl is ours seriously though i do wish we would just concentrate on just cl and prem, at least give them our 100% best effort.
