You got to feel sorry for the guy....What a position tan has forced on him and i bet in reality he wanted to tell all but couldn't...poor sod..
I feel desperately sorry for the millionaire manager being forced to take a seven figure payoff before undoubtedly walking into another job paying more per year than many people will earn in a lifetime. I may even donate my Christmas presents to some sort of fund for him.
I apologise. I feel desperately sorry for the Assistant manager undoubtedly on £100,000 pa upwards who will follow Mackay into his next job which will also pay £100,000 a year or more. I'll keep my Christmas presents this time though.
I couldn't stop laughing. This couldn't have happened to a nicer bunch and I hope Nosferatu runs riot tomorrow
The fact someone earns a lot of money doesn't mean they don't deserve respect or proper consideration within their employment. It's not a question of feeling sorry for someone. Mackay has no doubt developed an attachment to the Club and more imprtantly to the players he brought there. Whilst all managers are at risk of the chop there are ways of doing it and ways of dealing professionally with the situation. The fact that Mackay and indeed the assistant will go on to other things doesn't detract from the fact that the Manager has been treated abysmally.
Mackay has spent around £60m altogether in his time at Cardiff. That's more than we've spent since 2003, and we've been in the top flight longer. For that kind of outlay any chairman would expect more than defensive route one football and a relegation battle. Far from being treated abysmally, Mackay is fortunate to have held onto his job for as long as he has.
That's an entirely different argument, Lone. If Tan believed that Mackay had underperformed then he should have raised his concerns privately. What we've had is an owner who has developed a track record for sending messages to the dugout regarding substitutions and tactics, then removing the Head of Recruitment and replacing him with a nobody, sctratch that, a nobody without a work permit, then publicly dressing down his Manager with a public statement. None of the above is the proper way to behave as an owner. If Jenkins had done any of the above, even if he had an argument on the capabilities of the Manager, we'd all be appalled.
We were a far better side by a country mile when we came up from the championship than cardiff were and therefore would have to spend more to try and stay in the premiership and tan will have had to approve the cheques in the first place so he cant complain about what money has been spent..
Any feelings of sorrow are soon reduced to so what when you see the amount of compensation being paid out, which is probably more than my kids will earn in ten years slogging their sorry arses off trying to keep their business alive . It's not life and death just someone's"reputation" at risk.
'Sorrow' is perhaps too strong a word but in these times where money-grabbing on the part of players, agents, managers and owners is the norm - squeezing every penny ut of the game for their own ends - I'd like to think that even then there are standards of behaviour. Mackay strikes me as a decent guy regardless of his abilities as a manager, but Tan has plumbed new depths with the way he's handed this imo.
Tan is someone who is in the wrong business and he has bitten off more than he can chew. thats what happens when you got your thumb into to many pies you will come into a business of thinking you can make money relatively quick and get your fingers burnt. Owning a football club is obviously not his forte and he should quit and sell before he loses a lot more money..
Jenkins is answerable to the rest of the board and the fans of Swansea City. Not as much as he probably should be these days, but he is notheless. Tan isn't. He answers to nobody but himself. If Mackay or any of his underlings have a problem with that then they're welcome to leave. That they haven't despite this "provocation" speaks volumes about their true interests.
Just spotted this interesting article on the Beeb website. It doesn't mention the authorities' investigation of Tan's business dealngs on the stock exchange but hints at corruption in him geting the Malaysian lottery deal through without it being put out to tender. Those who know the Far East know that this sort of thing is normal, particularly in Malaysia where corruption and nepotism is part of everyday life. He's also a man who is very used to being worshipped by his employees so will find the reaction to his recent antics perplexing I suspect. it's worth a look. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25461616
Tan's getting a kicking back home as well . http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/...s/sideviews (TMI - Side Views)#When:05:54:46Z
That Malaysian article is excellent and could have been written by a Brit - very insightful on the way football is close to our hearts here. The comments from Malaysian readers at the bottom are scathing as well. So now we know that he's been getting handouts from the Malaysian Government to bolster his ruination, sorry ownership of CCFC with a view to "increasing tourism". The readers' comments sem to indicate that he is as corrupt as their own Government. What a guy.
