Rodgers wanted 4-2-3-1 - it's been his desired formation since he arrived.

Then reverted to back 3 st first sign of trouble.
maybe but it seems obvious we do not have enough FB's to play 4 at the back (for an extended period ) if you daren't play Moreno unless you use say Milner and Can at FB which surely no-one wants therefore my point stands about the commitee

If we planned for a back 4 both Rogers and all the commitee should have been sacked as we ended up with 2 fullbacks one of which Rogers didn't dare play at FB only WB plus an 18 year old who had barely played for Charlton. i thought it was obvious we would end playing 3 at the back after the loans of Wisdom and Illori.
not that i rate those 2 Wisdom is at best average and Illori i've never seen play apart from a couple of clips on youtube so cannot have an opinion

That isn't a FB <laugh>

We actually have Clyne and Flanno for RB and Moreno and Enrique for LB. Problem is, Flanno is out injured long term and Brod sent Enrique to Coventry!

I don't think he switch to a back three based on the defence. We have the players (quality debatable) to be able to play a back four. I think he did it because he wants three in the middle and with Sturridge back, he wanted two up top because we were struggling for goals.

It's now City, Arsenal us top 3

LVG and Mourinho in a top 4 or sack race

Yep. and I distinctly remember repeatedly saying they stood precisely no chance in getting him. I also recall certain regular visitors to this board arguing against me because of such claims :)

They'll deny making such claims, seems he was a brilliant manager when they wanted him but all of a sudden he's crap.<laugh>

They must be worried posting a thread in his honour before hes even joined us.<whistle>

Klopp would be an excellent signing for both Liverpool and City. Hopefully neither of them get him.

Here we go again - to all of those saying Klopp's no good, reports in the press today that he is being lined up to take over at Barca. One less promising replacement for Moyes - if this keeps up and we don't act fast to replace him all the decent talent will have been snapped up and we'll have to keep him.

Twitter says Klopp, could be interested in job. <ok>

Not to scud it but I believe some of the same only in the last couple of weeks were on here yelling us there was absolutely no chance he would come to us...now he hasn't yet but still....

And we decided to get rid of Manquillo who was a) cheap to keep on the books and b) a solid defender who gave us balance (compared with Morenos aggression).

And the lad is doing very well in France.

I agree but that's not the committee fault - they don't buy players for random positions. They're told to find players based on managers requirements I.e position.

Find it annoying when so called pundits start saying that Klopp needs to bring in carra and stevie onto his coaching staff.

Why does he? Why does he need two unqualified coaches with him? Did he become one of the best managers in the game by surrounding himself with people with no coaching experience?

We certainly need to get ex stars at the club and getting them more involved but you can't just put them into such senior positions without earning it.

Yeah..agree. I like the idea of any ex players starting their coaching career at the bottom with us, especially if we've a very good manager and experienced coaching team in place to learn from. If they turn out good enough brilliant they can advance upwards but not just for the sake of it.

There's plenty of ex players to go through to see if we can find excellence but if not...
