Looking at our squad I think we have a decent set of players for a new manager to start building with. But at the same time I think only 4 of our players are safe. Coutinho, Sturridge, Sakho and Clyne. These are our only players who have consistently shown top 4 ability in a Liverpool shirt and look capable of walking into any top 4 team. Benteke, Firmino, Lallana, Ings, Henderson, Mignolet and Can (and Markovic?) offer great potential but it is either down to the new manager to get the best out of them or them to prove themselves to the manager. I think Skrtel, Lovren, Toure and Allen could be in real danger. Milner and Lucas are reliable if not incredible, they are safe if they want to be.

good, about ****ing time, sorry i dont rate any of them that highly and they are not good enough for us.

I think any new manager will look at Lovren and Allen and struggle to see where they fit. Toure will be seen as to old and Skrtel just doesnt not compliment our back 4 (Rodgers was stupid if he could not see it).

Last night Ian Wright basically said Rodgers failed in 2013 when we finished second. He said the attack of Suarez, Sturridge and Sterling was so good that it did not need managing, so Rodgers only had to manage the defense, and the defense was terrible. Our defense lost us the title.

Is he correct?

And whilst you may not rate our signings. I certainly do. I think they're talented but need proper coaching and developing under the guidance of a top quality coach.

Sorry missed this one J. It's not that I think our players are all useless. I don't. I think we've done well to improve the squad overall...as a squad.

But I do not think we can consistently meet our targets on what is largely a business not football plan. The players should be bought first and foremost to win things not to make a potential profit down the road. That is FSG's clearly defined policy.

Each young potential is a gamble, good coach or not. We have sold not bought WC players.

There has to be a balanced rather than narrow policy based approach to recruitment. Playing Edwards football manager by spreadsheet rather than proper scouting, trusting the manager and doing what it takes to get your perfect fit player can never be replaced succesfully by buying 300 mill of 50/50 potential.

Agreed.
Allen was the classic old player in a new dressing room for a new manager. Nothing to add but support for a new manager.
Toure, still don't get why he's still there. Sure for that first year he was an experienced cover, but after that he should have gone. One year was enough when new players arrived, now he does nothing and adds nothing.
Lovren hasn't worked. Could have worked, but just hasn't. Time to cut our losses.
Skrtel, the fact we were talking about him leaving 3 years ago sort of sums it up. He hasn't really changed or improved but somehow he's managed to make himself invaluable, HOW?? 3 years ago we would have got some return for him, now I'd be surprised if we can shift him for half the price.

being fecking lazy to be honest.

stating the obvious and trying to make out like he is clever, was not the reason we lost the title but didnt help. we didnt have a big enough squad or good enough to rest key players and had to constantly play them was also a factor for me.

@johnsonsbaby That's really harsh on Mignolet. He saved our bacon against Everton (how many 1v1 saves against Lukaku in that 3-3?), he saved that last min penalty from Walters to give us a 1-0 victory start of the season, he saved us against Villa the following week with a few superb saves from Benteke. And that's just off the top of my head, everyone was chuffed with Mignolet as far as I remember, it was only retrospectively that Neville started criticising him on sky sports for the Ramsey screamer and Demba Ba 1v1 even though it's very harsh to blame a keeper for a goal like Ramsey's & a one v one.

Gist off it on 5live: formal talks began with Klopp as soon as Rodgers was sacked. Klopp wants final say over transfers but will work under current structure. Talks progressing well, just final few details needing to be sorted out. No announcement imminent. Ancelotti has been sounded out, as Klopp was, and one member of FSG really wants him. Klopp is considered the better fit though by owners.

Anything Ian Wright says is wrong automatically based solely on the fact that a total and utter knobhead uttered it

Just seen that. He as a point to a degree but there are ways and means of saying it without being so disrespectful, demeaning and arrogant.

Yeah it was very harsh the way he said it, completely discredited the whole season for him!!!

I may be in the minority, but I would probably agree. Although, not be so ****ing rude about it <laugh>

So translation he is saying they can call the current structure what they want but they become advisors only. He has control?

Really would like to know who the member of the committee doesn't want Klopp. Would tell us a lot about the surviving committee members...

Edit, sorry misread that but it would still be interesting to see who in FSG . Bet it's Gordon.

Apparently Rodgers wanted to sign Williams from Swansea to improve the defence and Bertand from Chelsea, but the transfer committee said no as both players were to old. Media are saying the committee will only sign players under 24, the old powerball system. Balotelli just scraped in unfortunately for us.

I added arrogant.

Typical Wrighty tbh.

Basically saying Brod didn't do enough with the defence which we all know anyway.
