I think it's a nonsense decision. The manager should go into every season with the confidence of the board. If he didn't have that then he should've been sacked in May, if he did have that backing then how has it been completely eroded by a fairly poor start? Every team will go through periods of poor form and if Rodgers starting this season poorly is enough to get him the boot then there was never the confidence in him in the first place.

3 points off 4th, 4 points off 2nd, 6 points off 1st. Whatever you think of Rodgers it was hardly panic time.

Now a new manager has to take over what is clearly an unblanced squad and turn it all around with 3 months until the next transfer window and 30 league games to play before he can make the serious changes this summer.

I mean at least give Rodgers the chance to beat us like he always does, we were always taking points off you before he showed up! :D

FSG clearly haven't given any consideration to how I'm supposed to reflect this change in my [HASHTAG]#graph[/HASHTAG]

<laugh>

We thought you'd got lost during the United game when you disappeared so quickly, glad to see you're back and safe <whistle>

Never hide away. We were spanked today in 20 minutes, Arsenal easily the better side. Just been busy helping people set up free TV so not been on as much.

Then you ****s go do this

I think Klopp will be bring in much needed vibrancy and energy back at the club.

This is it, I think Carlo would make every single fan happy... but I think Klopp would make everyone happy but excited as well. His passion on the touchline and press conferences just make him someone to that the fans can enjoy.

Youd be lucky if Klopp took over that mess, he can do better.

Martin Oneil will turn things around tho.

Raphael Honigstein (very reliable German correspondent) has said LFC have not yet talked to Klopp ...

Maybe spoken to his reps, gauge interest..
If he's given hints (they best be strong ones in order for us to do what we did..)
Then I guess can now make a more concrete offer!

BBC Sport's Ben Smith has got a few more details on Brendan Rodgers' departure:

"FSG's decision to sack Rodgers was made before today's Merseyside derby but the owners did not want to disrupt preparations for the match by making an announcement before the game. Even a victory at Goodison Park would not have prevented Rodgers losing his job.

"Rodgers was not told at Goodison Park. He was visited at home by Ian Ayre and I am told he took the news with dignity and good grace. Many of the players are now off on international duty and so there was was no chance to say goodbye to them. FSG wanted Rodgers to learn of the news from them and no one else and hence the decision to tell him within an hour of the result."

Two ways of looking at it... 2 wins early in the season were "lucky". Ok Stoke was fine, a good goal late on sealed it.. Bournemouth think we all admit we were lucky. Villa... hardly the most convincing win against a team that haven't won in 7....

draws at home to Norwich, Sion, Carlisle...

1 win in 90 minutes in the last 9.... yes he might be only X points off 4th, but that's not because we are doing well, it's because everyone is doing pants. City are top but lost 2 on the bounce earlier, Arsenal had a poor start and United haven't been great...

Games after the Internationals could go one of two ways (stating the obvious).

Team confidence could be high and as we often see with a new manager, honeymoon period means a few good wins appear...

But, new manager coming in when 90% of the team are off on internationals mean he doesn't get to see and work with the whole team until a few days before the first game meaning we might not actually see much difference, especially if Gary Mac and SOD are gone and can't give an assessment of the squad.

Just a note. Klopp's crap season they still finished in Europa league places. So his worst season was as good as the Rodgers average finish.

Where did I see someone say that earlier... <whistle>

I think we're in a better position now than Dortmund were when he joined.... but despite the "**** season" he still left Dortmund in a similar position to where we are now... Europa League with some talented players in it (Ruess, Kagawa, Sahin, Hummels, Subotic)
