I would have more respect for him if he admitted that performances and results have not been good enough and that some of his detractors are right. 1 win doesn't make it all ok.

can understand him not giving any ground to the nay sayers but yeah, he's either a deluded tool or a liar if he doesn;t admit how ****e we've been of late and for much of his tenure, even Moaninho will tell it how it is as he did yesterday with his minus 1 comment

You can argue all you want that we smashed them in terms of 'performance' ... that'd be great if performance always won matches, unfortunately results are what do and we ended up one goal ahead of them after twice conceding a 2 goal lead ... alright it happens in football but to do it twice within 5-10 minutes of the same game is very pathetic

Poor us, only winning by 1 goal.

I see no one is using the "lucky/referee decision" argument this time since all our goals were deserved and beautiful.

But not SO good that people can use the "we can't rely on worldies" argument.

Mourinho has tried to scapegoat everyone but himself and is only pretending to show the slightest amount of humility because he's literally run out of targets (and before the game he blamed the FA for banning Costa BTW)

After the game he said nothing about himself but threw 6 of his players under the bus

His subs rescued the draw though

"I told the players at half-time that I have no time to ask them why they were so bad. I want to try to understand because I don't accept it.

"I am not a magician. I tried my best for the team. At half-time I said I was sorry I only had three subs as I wanted to change six."

it is rotating criticism

a week ago it was if we got a result it would be OK even if the performance was average and we didn't score a lot. well we won and the performance was very good and we scored lots of goals.

maybe we overshot and should have played worse, then it would be OK

Yep, we created too many chances 21 shots, 12 on target, 3 goals.

Obviously we need to get rid of all those off target. And we need a better goals to shots ratio. But we still need to create lots of chances to avoid being boring and uncreative.

So perhaps we should demanding from Rodgers 15 shots per game, 12 on target (the other 3 hit the post), and 8 goals.

Anything less than this is effectively a loss.

astro,

do you seriously see brendan ever getting this great club back to where we should be?

also if klopp or carlo is made available and would join us, you still stick by brendan?

pretty sure they could spend the 200 odd million brendan has had to spend more wisely. we sent 26 mill out on loan ffs!

As I've said elsewhere. I still think this season is wide open. We could still finish in the top three. Big teams are being carp.

We're rather lucky we don't have much fewer points than we do... but we could break back into champions league this year...

But not with Rodgers. He's proven ineffective. Kick him to the curb before it's too late to qualify. If we don't qualify for cl now it may be a decade before we do again. Once England is down to three teams it becomes very very hard.

If there is no CL football next season (top 4 / EL win) OR we don't get 5th plus a trophy plus great performances to give us confidence next season then I am happy for Brendan to be replaced by someone better

I'm not so sure about Klopp (1 country manager, inconsistent results) but Ancelotti has a top record

Otherwise our plan is long term, we have a very young squad that will continue to grow and we should be a bit patient

I'm not concerned about Rodgers in terms of his football and management. My main concerns are surrounding issues (recruitment, fans on side) which he is partially but IMO not fully responsible for

fair enough astro,

you obviously have more patience than most of us on here <laugh> , just whether its going to bite you on the ass and we miss out big time.

shame all this patience brendan has had, wasn't given to rafa, could have dominated the world by now :bandit:

You scraped past a side who've only won 1 league game all season and that was on the opening day at promoted minnows Bournemouth.

You're the king of the deludeds lad, rawk is definitely missing an idiot

Wed only won 2 games to be fair though <laugh>

So out all day, planned in advance, but a complete understanding of our performance

If you're going to turn it around, starting with a team you should beat is fair enough. Our weaknesses in defence were still exposed but like all teams not quite good enough as a whole getting our best striker back has an important effect.

If we can keep Sturridge fit and put a string of results together all well and good. But the concern is still there that we are relying on an injury prone striker to win us matches after bringing in half a dozen strikers over 3 years...

While he still here I can't complain if BR gets the wins we need. That's his job.

Did anyone see the story that Klopp would only take the job of 1) the committee was dissolved and he had control of the transfers and 2) everyone in management was behind his appointment as it looks like there are currently two camps in the FSG/Club hierarchy. Could be bollix but at least it's what must of us want if a manager comes in.

not heard that one frank.

doesn't one point contradict the other? ie if he wants the committee dissolved so he had total control, the only ones whos approval he would need it from from would be the owners, so who is the management and 50/50 split malarky? people on the committee he wants rid of anyway?

I've never really thought there was any material difference to a formal committee v asking the owners who consult the same people anyway.

Dunno think it's more the higher guys..Gordon/Ayre up . There's been similar stories that these lot have been split about whether to get rid of Rodgers so maybe they are trying to say he doesn't want to come in if half the guys wanted to keep Rodgers..
