All the criticism is water off a ducks back to Brendan.

He told BBC Sport: "There's a hysteria around the club. We've lost fewer games than Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal in all competitions - two.

"It's a huge club, a worldwide, iconic club, so the scrutiny on it is huge."

He added: "It doesn't affect us. We're working hard and trying to integrate players back into the team. We have some top players to come back in.

"The players gave everything - I am proud of them. There was a lot of focus on them but we handled it very well. We looked creative and dynamic today.

"There is a group of people that don't want me here. Myself and the players stay very calm and work very hard."

"group" = extremely large proportion of the LFC fanbase.

Admire his tenacity but he needs a trophy or a top 4 finish if he lasts past Christmas

I love the way he makes it sound like it's about everyone instead of the fact it's about him. And I see he's still using soundbites to try and play up to the fans.

Clearly not listening to whats actually being said then (not that a manager should)

We still conceded two goals yesterday. Lucky to win from what I heard.
<laugh> Nonsense.............we could have scored double what we did, lots of possession and looking more like scoring than we have done in recent games.
Still suspect in defence of course, but that Gestede will trouble any CB pairing this season. His second goal was awesome.

We deserved the 3 points though.....comfortably <ok>

Dressed up, paper-over-the-cracks, Rodgers response. He's got some nerve labelling us as hysterical when four seasons in he's still fannying around like a headless chicken!:emoticon-0121-angry

Changing the subject - though I know he didn't score yesterday - the scum have really landed on their feet with this Martian feller. Trust them to get him! :emoticon-0121-angry

Unless six games now counts as a full season, its three seasons in.

Unfortunately this win has brought him time. I love how his ego is immediately back out following a victory, he needs to thank his lucky stars that Sturridge is back fit, and then pray he doesn't get injured again.

Despite terrible performances, our actual position in the league isn't too disastrous, and isn't a reflection of where we should be at - I think Rodgers is going to argue league position and it'll soothe over the owners, despite the entirety of the fan base (- Astro) wanting him out. In reality, 3 seasons with minimal progress, and another underwhelming season on the cards should be enough for him to get the chop. BUT, as mentioned, I think Rodgers is a favourite among the owners and chiefs so he'll (wrongly) get more time.

I'm not sure how anyone could complain about the second Villa goal, it was just a brilliant cross and even better header <ok> We did indeed deserve the three points yesterday and the biggest issue from the game wasn't the defending it was just how wasteful we were (as with the Norwich game). Coutinho in both games could have had us out of sight by the time the opposition scored. His finishing and final ball have been poor again this season so far and if he can improve them we'll be a better team for it.

Yep second Villa goal, yer man had a run on Sahko who was tied to defending an area. Other players are supposed to stop forwards getting a run at CBs on set pieces. It wasn't bad defending by Sakho. It was also not the first time yer man was allowed a run on him like that.

i don't think the owners are fooled by that shambles, i think its just a question of not needing to rock the boat as they haven't managed to convince a better manager yet to take over.

well i fecking hope so <laugh>

2 points off top 4 is ok but over the previous 3 matches, prior to the Villa win, the only reason we've even got there is bcos of other teams' failings

the performances in those 3 games and against Carlisle in the cup were bottom of the barrel stuff but this is shaping up to be a very disjointed, unpredictable season for a lot of other teams as well. the ones who will end up in the top 4 in May are the ones who can attain the most consistency, is Rodgers able to coach the team to do that ?? ... defensively he has shown he isn't. Those around us will up their game so it can't go on in the manner we've seen

the performance against Villa was a Rodgers team/season in microcosm - score a few, concede a few, big ups and downs, zero consistency ... the best teams are consistent, Rodgers' teams are all over the place and unbalanced. This is mostly a defensive issue, he has a massive knowledge gap around defensive play and set ups, or maybe it's that our defenders are so bad, all our CBs are shocking and have one or more major deficiency in their game. Stand that next to poor or non-existent coaching and you've got no chance of any kind of defensive solidity. So much money has been thrown at that backline, not only by Rodgers but his predecessors, and it's still terrible

Wow - Rodgers comments after the game. What a w*nker. You got the win, show humility and keep quiet.

We definitely deserved the win yesterday. The concern is that it was closer than what it should have been.

Will the last few weeks turn out to be the blip or will they be the precedent for a whole season ... that's the most interesting question

We'll either continue in the same manner

Or we might go on a great run now, finish in the hunt for the title and everybody calling for brods head will look like muppets and I'll wake up
