Seeing some of Gerrard's quotes this past week, I think he was the one holding it all together. Gerrard was very much for Brendan, Brendan was in his pocket and was his puppet.

Now he's gone Rodgers has very few friends in a dressing room that's at rock bottom.
That also shows the reluctance to get rid of BR. I can only think of it was thought about seriously over summer he'd have stuck around to see if the new man would use him..

Rumours around now that it'll be announced that he's gone in the morning

Said the same..if they go for another "up and comer" then they want to keep the stupid set up. If they go for a more successful manager I can't see them thinking that type will accept anything but their own way..

I think Rodgers biggest downfall was he to some extent was a 'yes man'. Whether we do go down the same route, or opt for experience, I think the biggest trait we need is a strong mentality and (for want of a better word) character.

When Moyes did his best to destroy us, the dressing room was beyond repair. We had to spend big to completely overhaul the entire squad. The question is, do Liverpool have the resources to do such a thing or do you believe that a new manager can revitalise the squad and negate the need to spend a fortune.

Let's not pretend you are as rich as us or the oil clubs. You've spend horribly in recent years and your owners may be nervous to be so generous in the future.

Even if you did get a top class manager, I don't think they could make too much of a difference. You need a make over.

I don't think our squad is as bad as you think it is though, UIR.

He's assembled a good group of players, he doesn't know how to get the best out of them. Though admittedly I'd say our team is void of any real leaders, and I don't think Brendan himself is a leader so where's it coming from? That's why we need a strong personality, I'd even risk saying someone like Van Gaal.

You need a manager with balls, one who treats the press with contempt and has his own ideas. A manager who everyone knows is the boss yet can approach and bring ideas to the table.

Sadly they are all employed.

Dont try and have a sensible argument with him Saint, it's not possible <ok>

He'll disappear again when United start losing like he did couple of years ago

TBF UIR didn't disappear, he was one of very few that stick around throughout.

Where is KingEric nowadays anyway?

If you are going to get a good manager he will have to be given complete autonomy... well, no "committee" for starters.

When we sell Coutinho we will have a good chunk to spend

Talked about this on another thread. While I dint think this squad is top four as it is. Playing well, with clear set up its a solid fifth. Unlike when Rodgers came in its a young squad. What we lost and haven't replaced is the higher class of player.

The owners have cleared out the high earning non performing and the squad as a whole is on low wage high bonus.

With the wage bill down and the new tv money in next year and hopefully an EL place under a new manager we should be able to target top players and if (big if) the owners are prepared to match the type of wages others are offering we will get more of our targets..obviously some will still choose CL clubs but even if we get one or two top quality a year I believe this team can become top four competitive.

After that well...

But it's convincing the owners to break their strategy at this point. The money is certainly there if the new management team is good enough.

Its not great either. Neither was ours looking back bit at the time its easy to be blinded by it all.

You lack a leader as you say, and a spine. Can you name 4 players who right now epitomise Liverpool FC.

Van Gaal, funnily enough (and no doubt I will receive millions of hilarious reminders) would be the perfect man to come in and tear your team up. That's the reason we got him, its what he's been doing.

He would split your fanbase though, managers like him do that. I can't think of anyone else who fits the bill though.

i think it's obvious that they've been courting the likes of Ancelotti. The only thing that'll give him a stay of execution will be if FSG can't line up the man that they want. If the rumours that Ancelotti has decided it's not for him are true, then gnashers might survive a tad longer, but it sounds like the decision that he's done has already been made.

I think that's why he didn't go in the summer. I think we wanted Klopp but he wanted the break.

Nah. I think he survived the chop in the summer solely off the back of the previous seasons 2nd place. They insisted on change though hence his back room going under the bus.

I think they obviously had reservations but gave him the benefit. He needed to start this season well, and he's bombed. He's a dead man walking, the only doubt now is about when the trigger is going to pulled, whether it's tomorrow, next week or during the international break

A few have gone. Went into the boxing forum to say my piece about Tyson fury and noticed a classic United fan, Alan.

Whatever happened to him. He was like our DR.

Plus where is Mito at? "Holiday" or "internet problems" <whistle>

Ancelotti is highly attractive yo players as has one of the best resumes going. Perfect choice to hold the fort and teach stevie g over tge next five years. Really hope it happens.
