I think Riise has earned a reputation far beyond his ability with time. He was a decent player who had a few good moments but I think we build these level of players up too often then get surprised when we don't consistently win or challenge for the league with these players. The spine of that side is great but the wide areas are quite weak. [HASHTAG]#randomrantover[/HASHTAG]

The morons at yoonited could have saved themselves all the skullduggery by giving faithful Mike Phelan the job, after all he knew the club, the players and the training routines etc.

Agreed. Every team needs a Mascherano - he's not the most glamorous player but he is crucial to allow others to play. Alonso and Gerrard were able to do what they do because of him. He's definitely one of the best DM's in the game (shame he doesn't play their anymore at Barca).

I agree about that spine as well. Rodgers talks about character - look at that spine! Wow.
 
I find it amusing how the media and ex-players are all supporting Rodgers and pleading that we give him time. I don't remember them supporting Rafa after ONE poor season.
