Not sure why you're bringing the reserve team into a youth team football discussion but seeing as you did, the Premier Reserve League was disbanded in 2012. The last team to win it were Manchester United, who were also the most successful team in the competition's history with 4 national titles (no other team won more than 1).

I think the real point of discussion is that some clubs bring players through the ranks more often than a club like Chelsea whose last youth team player to become a first team regular is now nearly 34 years old.

Chelsea wrecked the Premier League, reserve football and the national team when Roman took over, binning the young players and setting a precedent of buying established foreigners and firing managers for nothing - meaning any new manager would not gamble on bringing a youngster through.

Now everyone tries to do the same as Chelsea with foreign ownership.

The worst bit is Chelsea are producing good young players but they never get a chance for reasons I have explained above.

Loads of young players, all out on loan never to be seen again.

The FA should have acted years ago, but haven't, and look how **** our national team is now.

Sometimes players who just do their job week in week out are just as important as the superstars.

We beat you in May to win the U21 Premier League: http://www.manutd.com/en/Players-An...ed-v-chelsea-under-21-final-match-report.aspx

We topped the table and won the play-offs. The U21 Premier League succeeded the Premier Reserves League in 2012.

You won the inaugaral title, we won it last season.

Indeed, I watched the final and the better team on the night won it. I was hoping Queenie would put the effort into responding before you turned up but I guess the pubs are open now. Do you think any of that Chelsea U21 team will be given the chance to and succeed in becoming a regular part of the first team? It's been a long time since anyone did that at Chelsea. Just doesn't seem part of the club's Feelossofee.

I cant see that happening, Jose is not a manager that will nurture youth, but buy it in ready made.

You have no youth team. Chelsea are an embarrassment to english football.

But not in the 1st team, so that means nothing in the grand scheme of things.

UIR was not discussing "the grand scheme of things", he was stating that "we have no youth team".

But his knowledge of football and United is as porous as ever.

    Why?

It seemed to mean something to your U21s; they cried after we won the U21 Premier League at Old Trafford in May. <ok>

Such a youth team. Players we will never hear of.

Our youth players have made a number of first team appearances. Our previous ones are playing throughout the league, the ones before are the most successful players in premier league history.

Youth team. We do it right.

You have no youth team. You ruin young players careers.

    The chelsea way. No future.

  20. "You're getting sacked in the morning!"

Not my words, but those of hardened United fans, at today's game.

Okay, so they are probably "hardened" at the thought of Rodgers getting sacked in the morning, but that is besides the point.
