yes jackash after the way he insults Dai, absolute disgrace. seems if you do not agree with the said person you get a tirade of abuse well said that man.. and anyone who thinks danny has a good goal record needs their eyes tested. he has gone 5 games without scoring then he gets a couple of tap ins, then he goes on another barren run and dropped, he then comes of the bench and gets a goal and low and behold if it was not for a loan signing in siggs we would be relegated, what is this latest barren run...8 games now i think, so how anyone in their right mind can say he is a good striker is beyond comprehension....one thing that he is good at is holding the ball up and im afraid thats not a striker....especially a lone striker at that,.......cant see him playing much next season with that record unless we change to two strikers up front. whoever we get in the summer will automatically be the no1 striker.....
He has scored 10 goals, which is a higher tally than a lot of other players. Do you actually go to games ? He had a very good assist yesterday without him dyer would not have scored. Graham is playing a lone striker role, do you know what that means when you have 2 wingers on the pitch ?
Marching on to a possible 50 points our first season in the Premier , on peanuts & some think we have a problem ...... Lol !!
its not about points its about a top quality striker and i know danny has done his best but deemed to not be good enough as a LONE striker, if we never got siggs on loan where the hell would the goals have come from..? its academic now anyway as we are safe and we know that a striker is at the top of brendans list for next season....and we need one too....
Who has deemed him not good enough ? it could also be put on Borini last season, without his goals no promotion. Can I just say that if it wasn't siggy it would be someone else in his place, he has come here to do a job like Borini and has done it well.
Exactly Jash , my thoughts exactly . Graham is a perfect lone striker because he's versitle , versatle ... can play a lot of different ways . If Sig never came , Danny would have scored more IMO .. P/S/ It's all about points 99
Who has deemed him not good enough ? Danny himself and his barren runs......sorry there was to many during the season to ignore and this one he is on now is a shocker for any loan striker anywhere, too many people have mentioned that we lack fire power and they are right, who would play a striker who goes on long runs without scoring......its not good enough in top level football when we only play one striker.....all the excuses in the world wont excuse his long barren runs and though i feel sorry for him that wont stop brendan bringing in a more prolific striker next season.we cant go on and expect to survive next season if we dont have a striker who knows how to score regularly....
You obviously don't understand the lone striker role at the club, his role is to open up play for our midfield and to have defensive side of his play. He does both superbly and saying that his 10 goals is not good enough is a bit out there. Do you realise that players like bale, crouch and Suarez have scored less ? And newcastle's cisse has scored the same. We have a very good player who works his socks off , and has scored 10 as a loan striker, even when he gets very little service, no matter who we bring in if he doesn't get the ball he won't score.
Not alot of thought has gone into your posts Dai. Danny Graham plays the sole striker role very well imo. Remembering that when your alone up front, you have twice the amount of work to do than if you had two up front. He tracks back, he searches for the ball, he holds it up allowing SIggy and Co to run forwards, he sets up others, he pulls in the defenders. Had it not been for DG, Siggy would not have the space to have scored some of the gaosl that he has, they both complement eachother. Take note of Saturday. DG could have shot and could have missed. But instead, he looked up, saw Dyer and passed ENSURING a goal was scored. That, is what a sole strker does. e doesn't neccesserily SCORE you 20 goals a season, but they will MAKE 20 goals a season. An for £3.5million, I'm damn happy with his contribution this season. P.s. Has Torres been dropped? Has Carroll ben dropped?
not a lot of thought goals wins games and if our main striker cant do that then what, keep playing him i suppose, where do you think we would be without siggs goals this season???? same position or down the bottom with wolves.......we have been lucky to get siggs when we did to get the goals that our main striker cant get, he with vorm have saved our season...
Goals win games but if we only give DG the ball with his back to goal on the halfway line how is he supposed to score? His shooting has been fairly accurate this season and he was unlucky not to score against Blackburn. I love Sigurdsson, but since his arrival Danny has hardly seen the ball. This is something that needs to be worked on. I think Sigurdsson at attacking midfield means you can play with a "line breaker" centre forward - whether Danny can play like that I don't know, but there's no point criticising one of the top scoring English players in the Premier League when he cost us £3.5mil and already had to deal with an army of doubters before he belatedly got off the mark.
he has never made 20 goals so thats bullshit and here we go with the not having the service rubbish... Its all to clear if you listen to people who know and talk football on the radio and TV...." we are a good passing side that is lacking fire power" now what part of that dont you understand???....you must be blind if you cant see his long barren runs and shooting at the target skills, the sooner this season is over now we are safe the better.... as he will drop down the pecking order once we get a striker more suited and far more skillful. i listen to the pundits about our lack of fire power as they are professional in their job.....i admire your loyalty but thats no good at the end of the day....
I don't think you are right there Superswan , he has scored 10 had direct assists for 3 , so 13 in total, plus I have seen him being in the mix for quite a few others. The important one is the 10 goals at a higher level though, he has scored in a single striker upfront when others in a 4-4-2 who have help have not. I am now convinced you never go to games as your arguments revolve around what pundits say, I go to games and see with my own eyes what is happening, I don't rely on pundits opinions as very often they speak a load of carp !
"I admire your loyalty but that's no good" Err. That's an awfully high horse you're riding on there Dai! Lots of people knocked Graham early on, and they're the same people who are knocking him now. Personally, I think he's a very tidy centre forward who does a good job considering he IS starved of the ball high up the field. I don't listen to the pundits for my opinions, I form my own on the back of what I see, and what I've seen, for £3.5 million, has been an excellent return.
Dai you always take the extreme view! No one can argue that Graham has not had a good season, first season in the Prem with 10 goals, and a difficult job, when for many games both Dyer and Sinclair were not giving him the service, he should have had. You are right that Rodgers saw this, hence why we now have someone who can consistently score outside the box, as the game is getting very tight in the box at this level, but we are still an ongoing project in development, and I'm sure we'll get another option up front, with a sharper clinical edge, that will take the pressure off Danny boy, and he can then develop his game at this level. The Only disappointment for me this season is, that goals have been an issue, and yet we failed to give Dobbie a run out, and I don't agree with Rodgers, that he should be down the pecking order behind Moore and Lita, why is it that Birmingham, Blackpool and even Middlesborough were all after Dobbie on loan? I'm sick and tired of this boy being messed about after what he's done for us, very poor show from Rodgers!...................
