By comparison Hodgson's record was far superior to Rodgers' when they joined Liverpool. It will be interesting to see how long the "fans" stay loyal to BR, who wasn't the first choice this summer. It's a shame for the guy, he's been sold a pup and has a below average squad to work with while his old club slowly build on the foundations he helped stabilise after Martinez did the hard work.

I think it was a financial thing.

Rodgers had to lower the wage bill and gain money to sign players. I dont think he has any personal issues with Carroll.

If you had looked at Swansea last season, Brendan Rodgers demands two things, one is that his forwards never stand still and move around the box, and the other is that the players always have to be active. Andy Carroll in many ways is a plodder, similar to Berbatov, and that didn't suit Brendans style.Brendans philosophy is that he has many forwards, but very few strikers. Some people may suggest that Brendan has two strikers, but he's got a number of forwards ie Sterling, Suarez, Downing, Borini and Assaidi. Does he need more to compliment that?, yes he does, but only one striker.

Have you noticed how his eyes lit up when the mention of Theo Walcott arose? He's a player that Brendan likes and wants. Walcott is not a striker, but he's a forward. If FSG allow it, expect Brendan to go after Walcott and Sturridge.

You can't expect Sterling (a mere kid), Assaidi (a player we've never even seen play) and Downing (utterly useless) to be part of our main strike force for the season. Its absolute madness. That leaves Suarez and Borini, neither of whom are exactly looking prolific right now. We all know he needed at least one striker but the majority of us would have said two once Carroll went...and yet the owners let him buy no one.

You seriously think FSG will let him go after Walcott or Sturridge when they wouldn't even give him an extra million for Dempsey? You're living in a dream world if you believe that.
