    Roland should have sold before Robinson got found out.No-one will pay his asking price while we slide down the table.

    My hope is now fading.

    In three weeks our six point cushion above 7th place has gone. We are now clinging on to that last play-off spot by goals scored (2 more than Portsmouth) not even goal difference. We now have no win in 4 league games, and have taken only 1 point from a possible 12.

    The second automatic promotion place is now 9 points above us.
    With our disintegrating form that might as well be 90.
    And five of our last seven league matches were at the Valley.

    Something has to be done. A win against Blackpool on December 23rd is now essential to stabilise our slipping position.
    We have already lost more league games (6) than we did in the whole of season 2011-12.

    Goal conceded from set piece- tick,
    Beaten in the North West -Tick,
    Can't take our chances - tick,
    Slipping down the table- tick.

    Supporting Charlton is so predictable.

    On average over the last 12 seasons, 85 points has been the minimum requirement to achieve second place.
    It is possible that more may be needed this season.

    Charlton need 50 more points to reach 85, and we have 25 league matches left to get them.
    That's 2 points per game on average for the rest of the season, with no guarantee of an automatic spot even if we achieve it.

    Our form has taken a nose-dive;
    Charlton are now 21st in the form table for our last 6 league games
    and 10th in the form table for our last 10 league games.

    Unless that form recovers dramatically in our next three games;
    Blackpool (H)
    Southend (A)
    Wigan (A)

    I think we can say with reasonable certainty that automatic promotion is no longer a realistic target.
    That will be a damning thing to have to admit, before we even kick a ball in 2018.

    Unless you're an apologist of course. Any finish higher than 13th will satisfy them.
    Solid evidence of progress since last season.
