Wasn't Lambert a League 1 manager - Colchester and Norwich? He didn't do too badly last season did he?

Looks more and more like Hughton with Ardley as sidekick but if it is Robins then we must support him. The board decide not us.

You may find that the appointment will just come out of the blue - and sometimes that can be a good sign (that the chairman has looked beyond a hastily arranged list of availables) and sometimes that could leave you with Kevin Cullis...

You shouldn't go crazy - youth, youth, youth - but look for someone hungry whatever their age. I don't think there would be a championship club (or there shouldn't be anyway) who would refuse Neil Warnock. The guy has a track record of building teams for the premiership. That said I can't help but feel that Curbishley, as nice as the guy seems, does look to lack a little ambition.

Hughton has done it once, as has DiMatteo, and both seem motivated and intelligent... both would do a good job, as I say. I've commented that Bellamy plus an old pro coach (Roy Evans) to be the calm experienced one might be an effective choice - certainly get the city excited - as the fans (and media) would want them to do well. Forgive them a slight wobble at the start. And that can help to prevent things from snowballing.

Maybe the best thing for Cardiff would be if QPR went crazy (as there are hints that they might) replace Warnock with a fashionable foreign coach and leave him free to take you guys up... would you embrace Warnock? Some people don't like him but he is successful.

I remember reading an article, an interview with Bellamy about creating an ethos for the club and I have to say that I think that he's right with that. Whoever is hired, young or old, they need to be part of a plan to shape the identity of the club. Whatever you say about the way that Stoke play - it is the Stoke way... the players and club have been shaped to play it and if their manager left another with a similar attitude could slot straight in.

I would think that attack with power would be a good approach for Cardiff - not too direct but purposeful and controlled.

Frustration on the part of fans/media comes from a feeling that there is no clear direction other than this will work right now... maybe. So it has to be more than a managerial appoinment.

Guys, dont discount Robins. Look what everybody said when Rogers took over at us. The p*ss taking was incredible and he worked wonders. If i am honest di matteo would be my choice, but the unusual ones quite often work. One question with regard to this. Would you have rather kept DJ or take robins as your new manager. thats the way of looking at it.

Guys just looked at oddschecker and Malky Mackay is very short in the betting, odds on with some. would you take that. Appears to be a good manager.

hmm...young, hungry and ambitious V tried, tested and ultimately failed.....for me it's a no brainer TLF.

Until the announcement, I'm in the Hughton camp but whoever it is will be given the opportunity and will have my backing (and that would include DJ if he suddenly returned)

I'd be happy enough with Mackay but I think the question of compo might be a stumbling block there.

Sorry to say it but DJ had to go as new ideas and thinking are needed. If the board think Robins is the man for the job then I support him. I just want him in quickly (whoever he is) to get working on the influx of players (no Swans loaners thank you) we will need.

    No

The fact that Hughton is the picture in the BBC article is a bit annoying. Saw it without reading properly and thought he had joined...would love it but I'm skeptical

TLF...Don't think we all thought DJ was an idiot. Most of of us just feel he can't do anymore here. The only reason to move DJ on is to bring in someone with fresher ideas who can implement them on the pitch and has the respect of the playing staff. So Hugton/Di Matteo over DJ...fine...Robins, I am not so sure.

You just never know with Cardiff...
