So if you were mentally ill and killed another person would you go to jail? No you wouldn't you would go to the nuthouse. In fact you wouldn't even be able to stand trial for the crime if it was 100% you were nuts. They call it diminished responsibility. You have no control over your actions. I agree with dev. Some people get themselves into such dark places that suicide feels like the only way out. It comes to a time where you're not doing it voluntarily but just to get a way. Really hard to explain without contradicting myself. If you haven't suffered with depression then it is very difficult to understand. Robin Williams got to age where it is difficult to fight depression. You can't be as active at 63 and he may feel he's got nothing to look forward too. If he had been suffering with depression for decades then his ability to fight it would be worn thin. RIP
