Other than that was always found wondering and never got into any decent positions - Also never looked like creating any moment of genius like other top strikers do to win games.

Torres has good career stats, does that mean his up there with the best NOW? Van Persie has been class this year, hence he can be seen as one of the best forwards in England right now.

 

19 games is probably his record. He is similar to a 1987 Ford Escort as i said earlier.

Van Persie just seems a bit too...talented for me. I know that sounds stupid, but the problem comes from the fact he knows he is talented. Look at the obvious comparison in probably the best Arsenal player (And my personal favorite EPL player ever) Bergkamp. He had so much technical ability that it didn't even look like he was trying on the pitch. Van Persie's ability to score, or do something of technical brilliance, is pretty much well documented, but unlike Bergkamp, he feeds into the idea that's all that's expected of him. He isn't always willing to make the extra pass or he'll take an extra touch where it isn't needed, which all the truly great players tune out of their game.

Stats don't like, he had an amazing season last year from his return from injury, but to say he's currently better than, say, Rooney (As much as I hate to say it) or Darren Bent (Again, stats don't lie) is a bit far-fetched. I think he is potentially the best striker in the EPL, one of the best in the world, but he's always lacked consistancy, and unless he repeats last season's feats, I'm not sure he is the best.

 

If you did not repeat your points i would not need to repeat those stats. We could also get through the CL game and then go from there.

 

I also do not think he is THE best. But i think he is in the the top tier of forwards in England.

 

He is a quality striker, but not the best. On his day, he is right up there.

 

good player but too often injured to be considered top draw. needs a couple of injury free seasons to prove he's consistantly good.
