<doh> if he's so good, why does everybody say Arsenals main problem is their back four and their men up top, he has a lovely left foot but I'm sorry he's nowhere near any of the former you mentioned.

Who said that? Only United scored more then us last year and Van Persie scored more goals per minute then anyone in the league. He is up there with the best. His all round play and now goal scoring puts him there.

Someone so injury prone cannot be considered as up there with the best in my opinion.

I doubt any massive clubs will pay the sum needed for what will be a 29 year old who can pick up serious injuries.

Always been Arsenals problem since Henry left or maybe when Adebayor had that great season. Who knows, just my opinion anyway. I think RVP probably needs a great partner to get the best out of him

Won't he be in the last year of his contract? Laughably bad managment, again, from Arsenal.

He can based on last season alone. 18 goals in 19 games and his all round play was stunning at times. He turned from a good link up player to a goal scoring machine last season.

This is a false statistic when he never plays a full season.

I could play two minutes and score thus giving me a seasons ratio of a goal every two minutes.

He's a great forward but ultimately just another sicknote

Why is it a problem? We scored more then anyone else apart from United. We all know the problem last season was the defence.

Sorry for not being here to argue it.

The stats don't lie though, minute for minute he was the best last season. And if arsenal can get someone like benzema to partner him, anything is possibly. I'm sure arshavin can play behind van persie, which is where he SHOULD play, instead of on the wing because arsenal have too many wingers (gervinho, oxo, miyachi, Walcott, nasri if he somehow stays)

Last season he played over 25 games in the league and scored 18.

Maybe that overshadows what I'm saying then, I mean everyone says arsenal always pass it around then make nothing out of it most of the time. Maybe last season it wasn't your problem but I certainly has been on previous years!

Yeah but he's not going to have Fabregas or Nasri supplying him this year. We all know he'll get goals but best in the prem?? Not by a long way

Berbatov did better than that, does that mean he's now the best?

Because in previous years Van Persie was not there. When he is and then gets the chance he has become deadly infront of goal. Our backup for him is the problem not him.

The problem at arsenal is not just the defence, it is this: RVP is the only top class forward that arsenal have. Chelsea and city have loads, for example.

Chelsea: Torres drogba Anelka, maybe lukaku and sturridge, kalou
City: dzeko, balotelli, aguero, tevez if he stays, plus the backups like Santa Cruz.

And when van persie gets injured, arsenal can fall back on the amazing Bendtner and chamakh.

Nasri got one assist in the league last year. Fabregas although not at his best did find a few. We will wait to see who comes before the window closes.

Not there in what sense? He's played for you since 04. And yes I'm not denying he's deadly in front of goal, I said he has a lovely left peg, but in terms of other areas of ability there are better players than van

The only reason i am not putting him up there because he just scored against the small teams at home. He got nearly 50% of his goals in a few games. Fergie never even played the guy for the important games. Van Persie broke the goals record for away games last season.
