Looks like he may be leaving Forest as he is out of contract this summer.

I think he'd be exactly what we need: proven goalscorer in the championship and could be the difference between a draw and a win - a bit like Simeon Jackson last season Norwich - and he would be available on a free!

Do you think he'd come to Saints? Would you want him here?

I'd also like to see us sign Neil Danns on a free and a quality centre back; maybe Matthew Kilgallon or Matt Mills if Reading don't go up?

Thoughts? <eek>

If Earnshaw came to saints then ian Dowies reign as ugliest player ever to have worn the red and white would be at risk! seriously, he has been a bit hit and miss in his career, but he can score goals.

is he another puncheon???? think i can remember fall outs in the past with teams and managers - we dont want another sulker. if i am wrong then yes he has a pretty good record in championship and could offer a short term deal.

He's just turned 30, so should have a couple of good years in him yet. Wouldn't be a bad signing, but maybe not for the long term.

He also captained Wales the other day, would be nice to have him with us he's too expensive on my football manager :( Even when the board sell off chamberlain for 5 million :(

I've always liked Earnshaw. Yes, there are many better options out there, but I would be very happy to bring him in. Would certainly result in a thumbs up.

We went in for him in the playoff season i seem to remember, but i agree not any better that we already have, if cardiff can get bellamy and leister can get yakubu dont see why we should try get a prem striker on loan

I would have him. He scored with two great finishes in the internationals this week. More than proven at Championship level, he would add depth to our strike force.

Don't know what it is about Earnshaw, but i've always disliked him as a player. He just has the sort of face you want to punch repeatedly until it goes away. Plus there must be some reason why Forrest don't want him, so why should we want him.

Do we really want others cast offs? Why are we considering someone like Earnshaw who at best has probably two more seasons in him at this level.......and slowing during that time. Surely we would do better to invest in someone who can do as well and put pressure on our existing strikers to keep their form?

The two goals he scored this week were against very poor quality international teams. Just ask how many of those defenders we would want here in our team and I would bet the answer is likely to be none.

He would also want high wages and to be the number one striker in our set-up. No thanks not for me.
