pretty sure if he is doing the business up until xmas they will extend the contract for 2 1/2 years.
He probably got a one year contract to see how he gets on. Look at it the other way. If he had been given a 3 year contract and then didn't make the grade you'd all be shouting 'Why was he given a 3 year contract'. He may prove to be a good un but I can't see that scoring a goal against Consett Reserves proves anything.
I think if he came through our academy, he may have got longer as they would have seen his potential a lot sooner, coming from someone elses, pretty sure they would want to see what he could do first before granting him a long contract, even if it is only a couple of 1000 a week.
There is probs an option for a second year on his contract. I carnt see us taking the risk to continue is development only for another club to come in and snatch him from us.
The Gooners really rate this lad and were surprised that AW released him from Arsenal. Let's hope he fulfills his potential, because the club could do with one or two natural wide players.
Can't remember where I heard this but he is a bit problematic? Bit of a Nile Ranger I heard? Hope its wrong. May be the reasoning behind a one year deal see if he passes the attitude test.
